running into someone who flaked on me...

She will remain nameless, but there's a retired Russian tennis player who was better known for her looks, than her tennis ability who has the same first name. And coincidentally, this person also happens to be Russian... Actually, they both have the same initials.

I ran into her @ Waterbar on the second floor. I didn't recognize her @ first. Hell, she didn't recognize me? She approached me regarding my camera. She liked it. It just dawned on me that it kind of looks like a phallic symbol...

It really wasn't uncomfortable whatsoever. I had such a surreal evening up to that point, nothing could faze me. I called her a flake right in front of her face and she still wanted to get together. I almost went for it- but I came back to reality...

huskies over the bruins...

I really didn't think it was possible this season. The Dawgs haven't dominated @ home this year like they have for the past several seasons. I didn't even bother to watch the game. I was totally frustrated with my Huskies after they lost to CAL @ home last week.

To me, it's more of an upset than the Super Bowl when the Giants beat the Patriots. UDub is not a good team and UCLA looks like they're on the way to another Final Four.

I mentioned this before in a previous post that Lorenzo Romar hasn't recruited well in the past few seasons. Only Quincy Pondexter remains from last years recruiting class of Spencer Hawes(currently with the Sacto Kings), Adrian Oliver(transferred to San Jose State), and Phil Nelson(who transferred to Portland State). And QP really hasn't shown that much in his two seasons in Montlake. His high school teammates the Lopez twins of Stanford are much better players.

This seasons freshmen class has been basically a nonentity. Venoy Overton has shown flashes and he still could be a decent player. He's going to be pushed next season by incoming freshman Isaiah Thomas. Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Justin Holiday have been disappointing. We got the wrong Holiday, his brother Jrue who's going to UCLA next year could be an impact freshman. The jury is still out on Darnell Gant since he's redshirting, but I'm not that hopeful...

I saw Romar in September after the Dawgs beat Boise State around Husky Stadium and my impression of him is that there's something not quite right about him...

The win was nice, but I don't see Washington getting into the postseason...

it was one of those night...

You know how it is? I felt it in the air. I really thought it was full moon. It wasn't. It was one of those nights that nearly everything went wrong...

All things come to an end. McArthur Park was my spot for several years. When my friend Richard Brill(who worked as a bartender there) left for Florida, I quit going there. I met one of my best friends @ MacPark- Michael Welch. And another good friend Jerry Brown(not the ex-governor and mayor). When MacPark closed for good, I was sad for a moment, but life goes on...

Postrio is another place that I quit going to. It was my spot and now it's just a distant memory.

I may have made my last visit to Kokkari. Don't get me wrong- I love the place, yet circumstances change.

Change can be good in life...

waterbar...

The view is unbelievable from the bar. So far, I'm not sold on the food, but hell, I've only had one fair @ best appetizer. Waterbar has a stunning 6'2 blonde bartender named Jennifer. She's worth going down to the Embarcadero just to check out. And she knows what she's doing. Jennifer played Division I basketball for Boise State and she was bartender of the month in August of 2006 in the San Diego Union-Tribune. I'm going back there for lunch on Friday...

fresh market cafe @ neiman marcus...

I like going there, but recently the service has not been up to par. The best thing they have is the carrot cake and their wide array of cookies. The M&M cookie is good, as is the peanut butter and jelly cookie. So is the regular chocolate chip cookie. I usually have the 1/2 tuna sandwich with a cup of soup which was cream of cauliflower. Apparently it's a regular item on the menu. The spiced ice tea is good. It's basically Tang with tea. Another problem, the cafe is pricey.

The people watching can be fantastic! I'd rather look @ ladies, but today I saw Sean Pean walking on Geary in front of Neimans as I dined on my meal. He's looking quite old! He's playing Harvey Milk in a movie that is currently being filmed in the City. There's an interesting article about Dan White in the current issue of the SF Weekly.

NM really needs to upgrade their service @ this joint...

running into people I know...

Last Sunday, I went to Uncle Vito's for the first time in about eight years. The last time I was there, I had lunch with a good friend of mine named Julius. Cut to today.... I hadn't seen Julius for three or four years and boom, I run into him on Grant and O'Farrell. I swear it always happens. You think of someone and sure enough, you run into them...

ferry plaza farmers market...

I haven't been for more than a month and I picked a day with horrible weather. I usually have the scrambled eggs with Hobbs bacon on an Acme baquette with tomato @ Hayes Street Grlll. I love that dish! I've had too many eggs in the past few days so I opted for the Po' Boy sandwich. BTW, po' boys have fried oysters in them. It was decent, but the po' boys I've had in the past have been on a french roll. Hayes Street Grill used some unidentified sliced bread. The insides of the sandwich just didn't stay in sliced bread. It was a terrible mess to eat. This really is a no no... I'm going to stick with my usual...

I really like the Downtown Bakery from Healdsburg. Their sticky buns are amazing. And their muffins are very good. I'll take Downtown Bakery over that overpriced Della Fattoria anyday... FYI, I've bought stale bread from Della Fattoria on more than one occasion. Never again. Acme is way better and a whole lot cheaper!

I buy apple juice from the same dude every time, but I don't know the name of his farm... I'll find out next time.
