I read his column in Sports Illustrated, but generally I think he's an idiot... I like Don Banks of SI much more...
I take issue with his criticism of Randy Moss who came back on Sunday to catch a touchdown pass in New England's victory over Buffalo. Moss finished with 5 catches for 70 yards.
King wrote that Moss wasn't getting open. In 14 games, Moss has 74 catches for 1144 yards with 10 TDs. That's more catches and receiving yards than last year when the overrated and now overpaid Matt Cassel was slinging passes to Moss.
My goodness, Randy Moss is still only 32 years old and he has 145 TD receptions. That's #2 on the all-time touchdown receiving list. I believe Moss has 146 TDs total which would tie him with T.O. for 4th on the all-time total touchdown list behind Rice, Emmitt Smith, and LT. Moss is #6 all-time receiving yards with 14,345. Next season, he should be 2nd or 3rd all-time. Only the great Jerry Rice's 22,895 yards seem insurmountable...
King favorite Wes Welker is a great receiver, but he's no Randy Moss. The guy has only 16 TD receptions in his six year career. Moss has had 3 seasons in his career with 16 or more touchdown receptions in a season.
Granted Moss had a bad game last week in which he seemed to quit on the team, but he came roaring back the next game.
If not for his two lost years in Oakland, Randy's overall stats would be out of this world.
Peter King really doesn't know football as much as he thinks he does...
King in his Monday Morning Quarterback in SI sure changed his tune about Moss...
