baladie...

I'm going to cross this joint off my list of places I frequent.

On Friday, I had one of their gyros and it just wasn't very good in my view and after I consumed the thing, I felt queasy. That's not a good thing...

To me, Baladie's gyro is more like a burrito than the gyro served @ Ayola a couple doors down.

The selling point with Baladie is that it's open later than Ayola.

But, that doesn't factor in anymore...

defriending someone on facebook...

I've been dropped as a friend three times on facebook. I posted about two of my disposals. The other was puzzling, but when I thought about, I said to myself, "I don't give a fuck!" There was no need to mention it or write about it...

I dropped someone five hours ago because I don't really care for the person. That's the bottom line- simple as that. I could elaborate more on the subject, but I won't...

For awhile there, I was in an accumulate friends on facebook mode. Now, it's I should concentrate more on my blog...

And, the way I write, I'm becoming a twitter guy...

Meaning, my limited writing skills are better served on twitter...

norm van lier...

Van Lier along with Jazz coach Jerry Sloan formed one of the toughest backcourts of all-time with the Chicago Bulls. Skill wise they were good, but in terms of sheer tenacity, I don't think any guard combo came close...

Norm Van Lier passed away @ age 61 on Thursday. May Norm rest in peace...

lemon chicken...

The best I've had thus far is @ R&G Lounge on Kearny.

artichoke joe's...

I used to think that the wings @ this joint were the best around. Now, I have to give it to Dan Marino's in the Hooter's Casino in Vegas. Go to DM's from 12am to 6am and order 20 wings for $5. They're phenomenal! But, there can be a significant wait...

Just finished playing poker @ AJ's and I won!

I was just lucky, that's all...

I used to think I was a good poker player- the more I play, I lousier I get...

megane...

There was a Japanese film @ Sundance in 2008 called MEGANE, which means eye glasses. I reviewed this film on my blog...

I'm virtually useless without my reading glasses. When I forget them, I'm really out of sync...

This post is to remind me to always bring my reading glasses when I leave my pad.

And to purchase @ least another pair...

Also, don't forget your headphones...

amy's cafe...

It's on 357 Kearny a few doors from Pine. Yesterday was a holiday and basically nothing was open on that weekday eatery oasis of Kearny from Sutter to Pine.

Amy's had a different name and I haven't been to the joint since it changed owners.

They make a very good pizza there. I had the combo special which includes the pizzeta of the day, insalata mista, and a soft drink.

Yesterdays special was ground beef, green pepper, and onion. I skipped the onion. The special costs $8.70.

The crust is good. The cat who owned the place before had a ridiculously inexpensive meal deal that was about 5 bucks- a pizzeta and a soft drink.

Anyway, I'll be back...

amber india...

It's next door to SCLA/SF, therefore I give it a whirl once in awhile...

They have an excellent beer selection! I tried two Indian beers. Taj Mahal which comes in a 20oz bottle and Kingfisher, which is in a regular 12oz container and is actually brewed in Sarasota Springs, NY. I like the Taj, a bit more. They are both lagers. Taj Mahal seems a bit smoother...

I tried two appetizers and both were good- samosa and a chicken drumstick dish which is called Zafrani Tangi Kebab. The skin is taken off of the drumsticks and marinated in saffron, cheese, and yogurt. In my view, basically a samosa is a samosa- nothing that special to NY...

On the menu, yogurt is spelled with an "H" sometimes and other times spelled without it. Don't get it?

A very strange thing about this joint- drinks @ the bar aren't taxed, but once you accompany your drinks with food, then both are taxed. Believe me, I wasn't happy about that, nor was I pleased when they don't seem to legitimately round off the tax. I won't go into details until I do some research to find out if they are up to funny business or not...

The kid who runs the bar @ this joint thinks he knows a lot more than he does... And he talks so fucking loud- it's nauseating!

Convenient location for me, but I'm still not sold on the place...

Okay, I admit it. I had another beer- Whitkap Pater Single Abbey Ale. Very nice...

man v food seattle...

I can't believe Adam Richman didn't eat the whole omelet @ Beth's Cafe in Seattle? I've actually eaten an entire Beth's 12 plus egg omelet with hash browns and toast many moons ago... I honestly believe there were more hash browns and toast when I accomplished the feat more than a few decades ago. And the damn thing wasn't on a pizza tray back in the day, it was stacked on a plate.

I tried one a year and a half ago I couldn't even eat half of it. Although, quite frankly, I wasn't trying to eat the whole damn thing...

I was actually surprised the omelet tasted so good. Back in the day, we would go there after a night of drinking...

nate robinson...

My boy from both my high school and college- Rainier Beach and UDub won the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk contest over Superman Dwight Howard.

Nate of the Knicks is definitely the most impressive little man dunker of alltime, much better than Spud Webb.

I must give kudos to Dwight Howard. He had a 12 foot dunk among his arsenal. Howard finishing with a free throw line dunk wasn't impressive enough...

Now, I'm reading that Howard's dunk was on a 11 foot rim.

I could of put a pic of Nate the Great in the green uni, green shoes, and a green ball dunking over Dwight Howard, but the Knicks have Rainier Beach colors, therefore I needed to represent and I love those orange shoes!

vicki gunvalson of the real houswives of oc...

I know nothing about her other than she's a successful business person...

She looks like porn star Misty Vonage...

Vonage is in the top picture.

I had to admit it, but I'm looking forward to the second season debut of the Real Housewives of New York City...

real housewives of orange county...

Up until today, I really never looked @ an episode. I did know that Jeana Tomasina Playmate of the Month in November 1980 is in the cast. Her married name is Jeana Keough and her husband or ex-husband is Matt Keough former pitcher for the Oakland A's.

Jeana was pretty hot when she was a Playmate, now she's the least attractive member of the OC cast.

The above pic is somewhat current and the one below was during her Playmate days. What a difference?

daisy delfina on twitter...

She's a friend of mine who I met in Vegas. I saw her about a month ago and she turned me on to her tweets on twitter. They're so fucking entertaining!

Her handle is daisydelfina. Mine is of course- nynotes.

I highly recommend Daisy Delfina's tweets...

Although, her dedication to NKOTB is puzzling??

She's in the above pic, but I won't tell you which one she is...

robberto alomar...

The recent news of him allegedly having full blown AIDS and his ex-girlfriend suing him has intrigued me...

The way his baseball career was going he was a shoo-in for 3000 hits and once he was traded to the Mets for the 2002 season @ age 34, his career went into the tank...

He was out of baseball by age 37. In this day and age, 37 is young to be out of baseball, especially with the dollars that can be made, even in this economy.

Alomar finished with 2724 hits and a .300 batting average. He's now 41 years old. Hell, there are a lot of plus 40 major league players...

He was with the Mets in 2002 when then manager Bobby Valentine in an interview with Detail magazine alluded to the fact that MLB could be ready for an openly gay player. And there was speculation that a certain New York Met @ that time was ready to come out of the closet.

Most thought it was Mike Piazza. Now, it is rumored to be Roberto Alomar.

In the infamous spitting incident, it is almost common knowledge that the umpire called Alomar a fag provoking him to spit @ the umpire who I will not name.

How Alomar's skills eroded in such a rapid fashion puzzles me to this day? Was he suffering from AIDS during this time period? I really want to know?

They say 10% of the population is gay, therefore 10% of players in sports should be gay. I don't buy that theory. I'm sure there are gay athletes in the NFL, NBA, and MLB, but not in the 10% area. Homosexuals are usually weeded out of athletics by high school. I remember more than a few kids in my high school suspected to be gay and they didn't participate in sports.

I'm curious to see the news coming out about Alomar in the future.

He may have Hall of Fame credentials, but we'll just see how the voters view him when he's eligible in 2010?

sanraku...

A Japanese restaurant a few blocks down from my pad. On Sutter near Taylor.

As I twitted on twitter, I haven't been to this joint for quite some time.

The do a decent bento lunch box for $10.50 which includes miso shiru, salad, california roll plus the main course.

And it's quite filling for a trencherman like yours truly...

crazy afternoon @ the rotunda in nm...

Although, the place is too pricey for my blood, I really enjoy sitting @ the bar and having coffee or lunch @ the Rotunda.

Anyway, I'm not going to name names to protect the innocent...

There was a certain female of eastern european extraction who got extremely inebriated on Tuesday afternoon in the bar. Let me make it clear that I didn't partake in any alcohol- I did drink two containers of coffee. Her beverage of choice was Pinot Noir. She had four or five glasses.

She's actually a friend of a friend who frequents the place and we were formerly introduced.

There's an older Japanese-American gentleman who is a regular @ the bar and I jokingly introduced him as my Father to the drunk one...

After engaging in a conversation with the older guy and @ some point she must have gotten bored or just too drunk- she started to mysteriously massage my right hand. Quite frankly, the hand massage felt good! It was almost erotic...

Then she puts her legs up over my knees. She was wearing a fairly short shirt, therefore I'm happy she wore panties, otherwise I would have gotten a birds eye view... After some incoherent babble, she got up and started hugging me. I was thinking I may be getting some afternoon delight?

Then she asks me if the older guy is really my Father. I said no, I was just kidding around. For some reason, this pisses the intoxicated one off and she starts violently hitting my shoulder to the point where it starts to hurt. I'm thinking to myself, this chick is crazy!! All thoughts of abandoning my workout and heading to her apartment vanish! I want to get the hell out of there!

In retrospect, perhaps I should have kept up the charade with her and said yes, he is my Father. But in the end, I'm better off...

Just a day in the life of NY...

bobbi billard...

I'm following her on twitter and she's graciously following me.

She's also on that site which I quit a few days ago- I won't name names...

I guess I don't have to mention she's a model...

a-roid...

He did the right thing by admitting he took steroids. I'm definitely not an Alex Rodriguez fan- he has proven throughout the years that he is a great player, but mentally weak...

MLB is to blame for this mess. They didn't do any type of drug testing for major league players until 2003.

For the last twenty years, I'm sure most every MLB player has taken some type of substance whether it's steroids or uppers...

I'd like to see Henry Aaron who just turned 75 look me in the eye and tell me he never took amphetamines during his illustrious career...

The guy has so many names A-Rod, A-Fraud, A-Roid, and Stray-Rod...

if jerry brown can do it, so can I...

25 random notes about NY...

2. My favorite college quarterback of all time is Sonny Sixkiller who played for UDub during the early seventies.

9. My Mother is without a doubt the best Mother in the World...

10. I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about my sister...

11. Since, I'm a very private person this list is getting very hard to complete...

12. I never met my grandfather on my Father's side, nor did I have the opportunity to meet my grandmother on my Mother's side.

he's just not that into you...

11pm showing @ the Century 9 in San Francisco Centre.

There are 3 people in the audience. One guy(moi) and two ladies.

I enjoyed the film... To me, it was a bit too long. The side story with Jennifer Aniston's sister and father wasn't necessary.

Excellent cast. I thought Ginnifer Goodwin of HBO's "Big Love" stole the show. She's a terrific young actress...

Another HBO actor- Kevin Connolly of ENTOURAGE was solid.

Ben Affleck just isn't a very good actor.

Jennifer Aniston and Affleck just didn't have very good chemistry.

I remember Jennifer Connelly as a voluptuous young vixen in "Career Opportunities." She's been in decent films throughout the years(A BEAUTIFUL MIND and LITTLE CHILDREN)- I just don't find her likable as an actress.

I think Bradley Cooper may be on the verge of being a leading man in film...

Drew Barrymore is one of the producers and I think her days as a female lead in a film are over. She's competent in a minor role in this film.

Justin Long surprised me in the film. He's a little better actor than I thought.

I predicted Scarlett Johansson would be a star after her role in "Ghost World" with Steve Buscemi and Thora Birch. Thora Birch who's mother is ex-porn star Carol Connors was on the fast track to stardom after "American Beauty." Birch is barely on the radar in the acting world, whereas Johansson is a big star, but I still find her acting ability marginal...

I give this film about a B...

closed my yelp account...

I should have done this back in September. The site removed a review I wrote on Perbacco because the crybaby owner complained.

I boycotted the site for the whole month of October. Came back again in November. Quit writing reviews again in December until I wrote my final review of Perbacco @ the end of January.

Enough is enough...

alex tourk...

The former campaign manager of our philandering mayor was quoted in the Chron today as spokesman for the BART Police Officers Association.

His ex-wife was the one involved in the affair with the cheap fuck mayor(the prick doesn't tip when he gets comped @ restaurants like North Beach Restaurant), in which Tourk resigned his position of campaign manager because of da guy...

Alex Tourk is on facebook and I guarantee that alcoholic/drug addict mayor isn't on his friends list, nor on his fan list of politicians which includes Mark Leno, Kamala Harris, Jerry Brown, Jackie Speier, and Dennis Herrera.

The guy has a face for radio, therefore I won't post a pic of the dude... I'll show his ex-wife instead Ruby Rippey-Tourk.

my nine hour facebook friend...

Actually, after viewing this pic of her, I'm glad she deleted me...

I had too many glasses of wine yesterday...

I need to take a picture of every woman I meet...

I'm off to get my eyes examined.

I may quit drinking...

getting deleted as a friend on facebook...

My first removal was two weeks ago. She was one of those quasi friends on yelp. We exchanged many e-mails in a 15 month period.

Up until about two weeks ago, we never met in person.

She had wanted to meet on several occasions- each time, she either flaked on me or something came up...

Actually, I got so pissed off getting flaked on, that I deleted her as a quasi friend on yelp. She never noticed, because she has so many friends on that site.

For some reason, we became facebook friends in January? In almost every case with my small array of friends, I have known them in the past or I had just met them in person. She requested the friendship and I accepted...

Let's cut to Friday, January 23rd. Me and a buddy stopped into Waterbar and I noticed that a Bulgarian dude with horrible teeth who I knew from his trencherman ability @ Kokkari and Globe was sitting alone @ a table. I was aware he was dating the above mentioned person. I asked him if she was with him. He said, she was in the powder room.

This would give me the opportunity to finally meet this person...

Me and my friend were talking to the front desk person and she emerges from the bathroom. I introduce myself and she basically gives me the cold shoulder. It was one of the most uncomfortable meetings I've ever encountered in all my years...

In an e-mail, I mentioned our awkward meeting and she apologized and said she didn't feel like talking with anyone, except her date.

I wrote her back via my iPhone and basically said that I wasn't surprised by her snub. And the next day, she deleted me...

C'est la vie... This was a situation where the only direction it could have gone is downhill...

That's her in the above picture...

grubstake...

NY is looking for a good burger. This joint has a decent burger, but it's pricey for 9 bones including fries.

Grubstake is a dive that's open late. The clientele @ this joint after the bars close can be scary...

a workout floor with a view...

The 2nd floor of SCLA/SF. Great view of Market St.

I like riding the stationary bike and waving to beautiful wahines...

hkcpr...

Just a note to myself... Too many onions in the kung pao chicken.

The dish is tasty and the ingredients are fresh.

The soup is aways a mystery @ this joint. It basically taste like slightly favored hot water.

HKCPR = Hong Kong Clay Pot Restaurant. Or HKCPCR = Hong Kong Clay Pot City Restaurant...

It's closed on Wednesday. The shrimp with tender greens over rice is good...

singleton 12 highland single malt scotch...

Of Glendullan. "Perfectly balanced, naturally rich & smooth. Fragant, grassy and fruity, this clean-tasting malt comes from the heart of Speyside."

The above aren't my words. I took it off of the bottle. Very drinkable. I'd have it again...

a pic sent via a camera phone to yours truly...

First of all, thank god for camera phones...

She apologized for the quality of the pic...

I was thinking to myself- no apology is necessary?

It was the highlight of my Tuesday!

Thank you Diana Terranova!!

You can view her via hulu.com in "Smile...You're Under Arrest!"

unbelievable...

I was given a window from 2pm to 6pm to exchange my Comcast box.

Unbelievably, the Comcast tech came to my apartment @ 2:05pm? They must really want to keep their customers...

Plus, the box I was given looks like a portable compact disc player. Why have a bulky box, when one could have a box about 1/6 the size?

I still believe Comcast is way overpriced, but I guess I'll stay with them for awhile?

excellent reuben sandwich...

The Rotunda in Neiman Marcus. Go see Thomas who works behind the bar.

sushi bay...

Located @ 355 Kearny a few doors down from Pine.

This place is dirt cheap. Todays special is $5.50. Chicken katsu curry with cabbage
and moyashi with a choice of miso shiru or sushi.
Tea is 50 cents.

The portions are small and the curry is filled with onions and I hate fucking onions!

I still go to this joint quite often, because I like the owner. He's a good dude and Japanese...

I prefer Japanese restaurants run by
Japanese...

The food is really fair @ best...

kurt thomas...

Of the Spurs coming out of Crustacean on Cali and Polk with two very fine young ladies...

Hopefully the W's beat San Antonio on Monday...

Terrible loss in overtime! And the other player with Kurt Thomas on Sunday night was Roger Mason who looks like a comic book character...

new lun ting cafe...

Open daily from 10:30am - 9:30pm. Closes @ 8pm on wednesday.

Many of the times my order takes forever and a day to get, but the joint is comfortable to me. They give you hot soup with your order.

I usually opt for the fried chicken steak with cabbage over rice with their delicious gravy on the side.

The meal comes with hot tea or coffee and jello for dessert.

Some chinese cat is talking to himself while sipping on a beverage.

This not a place you take a date. Unless you want to break up...

But I still love the fucking place!

pittsburgh 27 arizona 23...

A fucking great Super Bowl!!! I predicted Warner would fumble.

santonio holmes...

From THE Ohio State. Great catch by Santonio!

too many fucking penalties...

The officiating has taken over the game.

warner to fitzgerald...

Amazing pass play!! 23-20 Arizona.

the officiating is questionable...

Safety, instead of a potential game winning first down. 20-16. Pittsburgh.

excellent game...

The Steeler are pinned inside the one yard line.

James Harrison with a stupid fucking penalty.

dumb penalty...

By Ike Taylor...

momentum turning...

It's a one score game with the Cardinals taking over...

larry fitzgerald...

The best receiver in the league. 20-14. That goal line stand was big for Arizona...

20-7...

Great goal line stand by the Cardinals!

Don't think it will change the momentum...

penalties kill...

Face mask by Rogers-Cromartie and a marginal roughing the passer.

And another stupid penalty during the field goal attempt.

turnovers kill...

Warner resorted to his old self... I predicted Warner would throw a interception.

Great play by James Harrison!

17-7 Steelers.

interceptions...

They are game changers... I thought Warner would throw the first INT of the game.

Tipped passes seem to get intercepted every time...

A tall QB like Big Ben had 9 tipped passes this past season.

daniela who's behind the bar...

For the longest time, I thought she was russian. I was wrong, she's bulgarian...

e-trade ads...

I can't fucking stand them!! That's one reason I closed my account...

poor special team play will kill you...

Great return by unsung Breaston!

give warner time and he'll hurt you...

10-7. Pittsburgh's momentum is gone...

great place to watch the game...

SCLA/SF... Not too crowded and comfortable. Nice LCDs.

10-0 pittsburgh...

I guess the Steelers don't miss Bettis in short yardage situations...

steelers taking control...

Up only 3-0 early in the second quarter.

sears fine food...

I've been going to this joint since the late 70's...

My absolute favorite is the Southern Corn Beef Hash and Eggs. 11.25.

simple pleasures...

I put on some shorts that I haven't worn for awhile- lo and behold I found 13 bones in the left front pocket! I love it! It's enough for a couple beers when I watch the second half of the Super Bowl @ an unspecified bar...

It doesn't take much to make me happy... Perhaps, I should have twittered this post?

the super bowl...

My prediction is the Steelers will win, but may not cover.

If Larry Fitzgerald goes off for the Cardinals, then Pittsburgh could be in trouble? BTW, Fitzgerald went to PITT.

I think the Steeler defense will pressure Kurt Warner into a lost fumble and an interception or two.

Steelers 23 Cardinals 17. This will be a record six Super Bowl wins for Pittburgh...
