uw football head coaching job...

It's a given that Willingham will be fired, it's just when. With QB Jake Locker out for virtually the rest of the season, the Huskies may not win one game this season.

My biggest fear is that UDub would hire that idiot Lane Kiffin as head coach. If that happens, I may cease to exist in this world...

mike nolan will be gone @ the end of the season...

Nolan deserved a chance to be a head coach, unlike that punk Kiffin. Mike Nolan paid his dues. He's just proven to be a shitty head coach, that's all there is to it.

The Niners are probably the worse 2-2 team team in the NFL. My prediction is that they will be 2-6 going into their bye week.
Then the Fire Nolan campaign will commence once more...

yes, it's finally done...

Al Davis finally got off his high horse and fired that petulant punk Lane Kiffin. It's about fucking time!

5-15 in a season and a quarter is simply horrible!

He never deserved the job in the first place and he was way over his head.

I have been waiting for the news all night...

fire that punk kid kiffin already...

He proven to be a horrible coach. The last two games blowing two score leads in the 4th quarter should lead to his demise- finally! I don't understand how people can be sorry for the kid. He accepted the Raiders job in which he was clearly unqualified for. Hell, he was almost run out of USC for losing to UCLA his last year as a co-offensive coordinator with Steve Sarkisian.

To me, he is one of the worst hires in NFL history. I compare it with David Shula, the great Don Shula's son who was just terrible as the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Pictured to the left is David Shula who actually resembled that fucking moron Kiffin when he was in his thirties...

paul newman...

I was shocked to read that he passed away on friday. Newman was in two of my favorite movies in my younger years, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID and THE STING.

From his Newman brand products he has donated nearly 250 million dollars to charity.

Mr. Newman retired from acting in 2007. His last acting role on screen was in HBO's EMPIRE FALLS.

ichiro...

I look @ his box score everyday and my concern now is whether he'll reach 100 runs for the season. As I write this entry, he's one run short with three games left in the season. Ichiro has had 200 hits in 8 consecutive seasons. On more run and he'll have 100 for eight seasons and he's hit over .300 in all of those seasons.

Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times has alluded to Ichiro not being well liked by more than of few of his teammates. One of the supposed reasons is that he's a selfish player only concerned about his stats rather than winning- which the Mariners haven't been successful @ for more than a few seasons.

Baker in the past few days has targeted Japanese players. Yesterday, it was catcher Kenji Johjima. I'm starting to feel that this Baker is a racist.

Apparently, one or more of Ichiro's teammates wanted to cause physical harm to him.

Personally, I feel Ichiro should hit for more power and bat in the third spot. It is a known fact that Suzuki can hit the long ball with nearly anyone during batting practice.

I may have used the above pic in a previous post- but what the hell, the catch was phenomenal!

matt millen finally fired...

It's about time. What was his record? I know the Lions were over 50 games under .500 during Millen's tenure.

Why did it take so long. I give credit to the younger Ford for speaking out against the incompetent Millen after Detroit's waxing by the Niners, who are probably the worst 2-1 team in the NFL.

For the record, the Lions were 31-84 while that idiot Millen was in control.

riding the cable car...

I ride California line home nearly every evening. It just appalls me with the attitude of certain riders. Those cats who work the cable cars put up with a bunch of bullshit.

Tonight, I observed some idiot who's probably in town for Oracle World who kept complaining about the $5 fee for a ride. I almost told the moron to ride the bus for a buck fiddy...

I'm an old dude, so I really do remember when the cable car was a quarter, but it's been $5 for three years.

Didn't the motherfucker read a tourist rag to see what's going on in the City...

I believe I used the above photo in a prior post, but what the fuck, I really like it...

kara's cupcakes...

I'm a big fan of carrot cake and now I believe I've had the best carrot cake/cupcake in my life from Kara's Cupcakes. The first time I tried the joint, I had a magnificent coconut chocolate cupcake. Simply a wonderful place...

ferry plaza farmers market...

On saturday, when I make it to the market, my first stop is to buy a pint of apple juice. It's gone up a buck in the past few months and I don't feel the quality is worth the extra price. This particular stand is also open on tuesday. In the future, I'm going to opt for the organic pomegranate juice @ another stand.

I really enjoy the scrambled eggs on an Acme baquette with Hobbs bacon and since they are still in season, heirloom tomato slices from Hayes Street Grill. It's so simple, yet so fantastic!

Another stop I always make is the Downtown Healdsburg Bakery- their morning buns are astounding! But they do run out fast.

Today, I didn't make my usual wheat grass stop.

sarah palin...

I look @ pictures of her and I see a decent looking chick, but that hairdo is very scary! This is such a copycat world that I've seen two women in the City who have that look and I felt I was in the Twilight Zone...

I listen to what comes out of her mouth and it sounds like a bunch of bullshit. To me, she's the type of person, you can't believe a word she's saying.

How does she get a pass on having a 17 year old unmarried daughter who is pregnant? It just boggles my mind...

I won't get into the issues, but in the past few weeks, she is being exposed as fraud. I can't wait for the debates...

I must add that this 44 year woman just obtained her first passport in her life in 2007. That's unbelievable? And this person is running for vice president?

ferry plaza wine merchant...

They has great prices on beer by the bottle @ the bar! I usually have an Anderson Valley Brewing Company Boont Amber Ale for $3. You can't go wrong with that price!

For awhile there, they were selling Duval for $3.25 or $3.50. It's up to $4.50 which is a great price!

asuka ramen...

I live a block and a half away. I tried their lunch special for $8.50. It was a bunch of food for a big guy like me, but it wasn't even fair @ best. The bento included tempura, teriyaki chicken, potato salad, shu mai, etc...

I'll stick to the ramen and try their curry next time. I need some time to pass to frequent this joint again.

I like the owner she's very friendly to me.

priorities...

This is first and foremost my blog, therefore it should be #1 on my list. Unfortunately, I have spent more time on another website writing reviews. From this day forward, this will change...

that idiot kornheiser on monday night football...

Years ago, I complained to ESPN the magazine about a blurb that idiot wrote about the half-Japanese Canadian NHL playing brothers- Paul and Steve Kariya. This piece of shit had the audacity to call it the "battle of korea" when the two brothers faced each other. The moron actually thought the Kariya brothers were korean.

Last night, he made a disparaging remark about Mexicans. What the fuck is this guy doing on MNF. He doesn't know a fucking thing about football and the guy truly has a face for radio. He has no business being on television. I can choose not to watch that stupid Pardon The Interruption on ESPN, but it is very difficult for a football fan like myself to boycott MNF...

When I watch Monday Night Football, I turn off the audio. I just can't stand the motherfucker!!!

I believe they got rid of Dennis Miller after two seasons. How has this incompetent lasted a third season?

caltrain...

I actually enjoy taking the train to and from San Jose from the City. What would make the trip even better is free wifi.

On my way home from SJ, I sometimes stop in Palo Alto to have lunch and go to the Apple Store. A great place to eat in PA is Evvia...

Unlike BART, you can eat and drink on the train and that includes alcohol...

Also, to satisfying my poker obsession, I play @ Artichokes Joe's which is a block or so from the San Bruno Station. And AJ's has a great restaurant/bar where they have some of the best buffalo wings around...

new itouch...

Well, my timing was way off! I have a 16G iTouch that cost $399. I got it a little over two weeks ago. The new 16G iTouch is thinner and cost a $100 less. The 8G model is $229. The 32G version is $399. What the fuck!!!! I'll just have to enjoy what I have...

tom brady's injury...

I have vowed never to read the comments that idiots write on SF Gate again. The majority of the morons are applauding Brady's injury. I fucking can't believe it?

I am particularly sensitive to knee injuries since I sustained a football career ending knee injury many years ago.

tijuana notes...

I ventured across the border last week @ night and spent three hours or so enjoying the adult entertainment in Zona Norte. I won't get into specifics, but one can have fun in TJ...

As always, we noshed on a couple tacos @ the border and a strawberry aqua fresca mixed with milk. I didn't have any problems going back to US, even without a passport. However, I recommend having a US passport when traveling to and from Mexico.

I will say we saw more than few armed policia with machine guns. It is something to get used to.

A cab ride to and from the border to Zona Norte is $5-$6. Parking in San Ysidro generally runs about $8. You can find free parking @ night on the streets near the border crossing or during the day, you can park @ the outlets in San Ysidro.

And be prepared to tip a $1 or so when you use the facilities in the club or you can go to a public toilet and pay about 50 cents.

scott mcclain's first major league home run...

I am so happy for Scott for hitting his major league home run against the Colorado Rockies. I wrote an earlier post about him and my math could have been off, but now he he has 363 home runs in professional baseball. I first started to follow his career when he was the PCL MVP with the Sacramento Rivercats in 2006.

I'm a bit miffed that I didn't buy a McClain Fresno Grizzlies t-shirt when I was there last month.

Not only did McClain his his first major league home run, but he made a tremendous play @ third and threw out the runner going to first on his knees.

I hope Scott keeps playing and I'd like to see him hit @ least 400 professional home runs...

the end of summer...

Summer doesn't officially end until the third week of this month, but for all intent and purposes it's over after the Labor Day Weekend. School starts for most and the sun sets earlier and earlier.

We are lucky in the Bay Area to have Indian Summers. This is especially true in the City.

Pictured is one of my favorite Olympic swimmers of all-time Stanford's Summer Sanders...

ucla vs tennessee...

Wow! The kid(Kevin Craft) throws 4 interceptions in the first half, one which is returned for a TD and comes back in the second half to lead the Bruins to a victory.

Well, I'm a quasi UCLA fan because of new offensive coordinator Norm Chow and Rick Neuheisel did coach @ my schools in Seattle- University of Washington and Rainier Beach High School. I'm happy Neuheisel is getting a second chance. And my namesake needs to redeem himself after getting fired from the Tennessee Titans. It's ironic that Chow first victory back in the college ranks is against Tennessee. Oh, and my niece is a graduate of UCLA.

I must give props to defense coordinator DeWayne Walker's defense. I was also impressed with tight end Ryan Moya; especially after sitting out last season for personal reasons. New offensive line coach Bob Palcic whose previous job was @ Wisconsin where he developed Outland Trophy Winner and consensus All-America left tackle Joe Thomas is also good addition to Neuheisel's coaching staff.

Tennessee may have to rethink the way they open the season- last year was a loss @ CAL and this year getting beat by the Bruins in the Rose Bowl...

Some interesting tidbits about Kevin Craft. His father was the head coach of San Diego State. Kevin played one season with SDSU. I thought his name sounded familiar... Craft played for Mt. San Antonio College last season and threw for over 4000 years and his father was his offensive coordinator. His father Tom Craft is well known as a quarterback guru who developed his reputation @ Palomar College.
