chasing papi...

This is the film where I first became familiar with Sofia Vergara.  She was blonde in this film and hot, hot, hot!!!  Another beauty featured in this movie Roselyn Sanchez.  I saw her in person at Sundance for the crappy film NIGHTSTALKER(2002) which was screened at midnight at the historic Egyptian Theatre.  Roselyn was very good looking in person, but was embarrassed by taking part in a shitty movie where a bunch of people including me walked out.

brian orakpo...

Don't understand why he has a national commercial with the insurance company that features cavemen?  And Orakpo is another name for a sack.  Give me a fucking break!  The guy has 27 sacks in three seasons.   Minnesota's Jared Allen has 44.5 sacks in the same time frame.  The Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware has 45 sacks in three seasons with one game left in the regular season.  With 7 sacks this season Orakpo isn't even in the top 20.  Again, why did this guy get a national commercial?

robert blake...

I thought the guy was dead?  He's 78 and he looks in terrific shape.  He seems a bit crazy, yet he's quite interesting.  The last time I heard of Baretta, he was cleared of murder charges.  He was later found liable for his wife's death, appealed the ruling, lost, and it seems to this day, he's had financial difficulties.  Blake has lived a crazy life...

the golden state warriors...

I was really pissed when Jeremy Lin the Ws waived the Paly High and Harvard grad.  Today I'm really mad that Kwame Brown was signed for a reported 7 million.  And I'm still not happy that Mark Jackson is head coach without any head coaching experience.  What the fuck!!!

a charlie brown christmas...

1965.  Man, this show brings back memories...

Charles Schulz was a genius.  I must go to the the Charles M. Schulz museum in Santa Rosa...

kraft fight hunger bowl...

Combined records of UCLA and Illinois 12-13.   Both coaches were fired.  UCLA is 6-7 and needed special permission from the NCAA to participate.   I've gone to more than a few bowl games at AT&T Park and there is no way I'm going to this one...

live with kelly...

Without Regis Philbin, this show sucks!  Anderson Cooper would have been perfect to replace Regis, but now he has his own mediocre talk show or whatever the fuck it is...  To me, this show is almost unwatchable at this moment in time.  I foresee this show being cancelled within the year, unless they find a strong co-host.

walt hazzard...

The UCLA legend was the first starting point guard for the Seattle Supersonics back in the 1967-1968 maiden season for my hometown team that is now the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Hazzard passed away yesterday at 69.   Walt was a muslim and went by his Islamic name Mahdi Abdul-Rahman for awhile, but for professional reasons resorted back to his birth name.

As people I grew up respecting are passing away- it makes me realize how short and precious life is...

jerry sandusky interview...

With Bob Costas. My first thought was why?

I just heard the telephone interview and Sandusky doesn't sound like he's telling the truth.

Yes, his voice sounds creepy and tired.

He admits to showering with the youths, but he said it was horseplay and not sexual.

Why in the fuck does an old white guy want to shower with young boys? Just the thought is disgusting!

This Sandusky predator lives in a fantasy world and is lying through his teeth.

great football weekend in the bay area...

Oregon @ Stanford today and the New York Football Giants @ decrepit Candlestick playing the Niners on Sunday.

And to a lesser note- the Oregon State playing CAL today @ AT@T Park where the tickets are way overpriced! Tedford will never lead the Bears to where Harbaugh and now Shaw is taking the Cardinal.

joe paterno...

I was never a Penn State fan.  I've respected that the school developed some of the best linebackers of all-time.  I've never liked their plain uniforms without names on the back of the jerseys.  When ex-Florida State coach Bobby Bowden and Joe Pa were going neck and neck for the all-time Division 1 win record, I was pulling for Bowden.  From 2000-2005, Paterno's record 26-33, most coaches for a high profile program would have been fired during that period, but Joe Pa survived even when the powers that be of Penn State suggested he retire.  You have to realize that Paterno turned 74 during the 2000 season.

It's unfortunate that Paterno will forever be tainted by Sandusky.

jerry sandusky...

I've read quite a bit about the ex-Penn State defensive coordinator who has been charged with child molestation and one thing that sticks out in my mind is why did he retire at 55 when he was basically one of the most respected assistant coaches in college football?  It's been written that he quit after learning from Joe Pa that he wasn't going to replace him as head coach of Penn State.  I'm speculating that the guy was forced out because of alleged incidents that were reported starting from 1994.  Sandusky retired in 1999.

I hate to admit this, but those things made with mystery meat are quite tasty and it makes it better that the McRib is on a limited run. It will be gone before you know it...

brad pitt...

Excellent in MONEYBALL the film, although he's about a half foot shorter than the real Billy Beane.

But, it's the movies- Meryl Streep is about a foot shorter than the late Julia Child.

carlos pena...

Although, he hit batted under .200 in 2010. Pena hit 248 home runs after being traded from the A's in 2002 with a high of 46 dingers in 2007. Pena was also in the World Series with the low payroll Tampa Bay Rays.

moneyball the movie...

Bullshit line by the fictional Peter Brand- Kevin Yokoulis walks more than anyone in baseball other than Barry Bonds. Totally incorrect.

On a positive note- a cameo by the beautiful Lisa Guerrero.

Also, Brad Pitts tells the fictional Brand -text me the play by play. Who in the fuck texts in 2002?

Art Howe must be pissed to have a short fat fuck Philip Seymour Hoffman playing him.

An overhead shot showing Oracle Arena next to the Oakland Coliseum in 2002 was incorrect. It didn't become Oracle until 2007.

billy beane...

Most overhyped and overrated GM in professional sports...

One of his dumbest moves was trading Carlos Gonzalez and keeping injury prone Ryan Sweeney.

Another bad move, not hiring Ron Washington as a manager. Sticking with his buddy Bob Geren who was 42 games under .500 for 4 1/2 seasons.

Signing perpetually injured Eric Chavez to a huge long term contract.

The list goes on and on...

I'm writing this note while watching the "fictional" MONEYBALL.

the girl with a dragon tattoo...

Why in the fuck did they remake a very good Swedish film?

MONEY...

Not artistic integrity.

phil simms...

On Sirius/XM, the ex-Giants quarterback turned analyst said that Stanford's Andrew Luck is a bit overhyped because his arm strength may not be there.

I believe arm strength is overrated.  Look at JaMarcus Russell- that guy can throw the ball a mile and at 26, he's out of the league.  Ex-Cal QB and current Raider Kyle Boller could throw a football on his knees from the 50 yard line through the goal post.  Boller is a marginal backup in the league.

Joe Montana didn't have the strongest arm around, but he was a leader and accurate.

One thing I've seen with Luck is that he can roll to the left(he's a right hander) and throw across his body to the right with accuracy and zing.

Simms was an excellent quarterback and he's generally a very good analyst with an ornery side to him.  I believe he's incorrect in his assessment of Luck's arm.

Stanford has had a history of great quarterbacks- Frankie Albert to John Brodie to Jim Plunkett to John Elway and now Andrew Luck.

wayfare tavern...

I just saw Willie Brown's comment in the Comicle about Wayfare's fried chicken.  For once, I agree with him.  I used to enjoy watching Tyler Florence on the Food Network.

The fried chicken at Wayfare Tavern is $22 and served without anything.  No sides at all.  No veggies, no potatoes.  Nothing...

I've eaten at Wayfare more than a few times and I don't foresee going back to dine with so many other options in the City.

To me, the fried chicken at Wayfare Tavern is fair at best...

virgin america...

I love the airline, but give me a fucking break, their website has been down or not up to date for nearly a week.  I wonder how much business they lost in this time period?

And another thing, why doesn't the airline have an iPhone app?  Southworst has had an iPhone app for quite some time...

One thing I learned is their maximum baggage weight is now 50 pounds without paying an overage fee.
Before it was 70 pounds.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

jet blue...

Generally, I've only heard good things about the airline, but twice in less than four years Jet Blue has stranded passengers on the tarmac for around seven hours.  My goodness, you would think the airline would have learned from their previous incident.

In September of 2010, I was flying Virgin America out of JFK(where the first Jet Blue tarmac fiasco happened) and we were stranded on the tarmac for about two hours.  Virgin America made sure to pull the plane back into a gate and give passengers the opportunity to rebook for free or wait until the flight was clear for departure.

I've always wanted to fly Jet Blue, but I've never gotten around to flying the airline since most of the routes that I'd want to fly are handled by Virgin America.  Now, with this second incident- I don't foresee flying the airline...

lane kiffin...

I've written a few posts about this fucking cry baby.   Granted USC played Stanford tough.  It was a hell of a game!  But this punk has to complain about officiating after the fact saying that the officials lied to him about getting a timeout before the end of regulation.   The week before it was his players saying that Notre Dame's coach Brian Kelly quit before the game was over.  This fucking punk can't stay away from controversy.  I blame the late Al Davis for giving this punk kid a chance to become head coach of the Raiders out of the blue.

Update: Baby Kiffin was fined $10K by the Pac 12 commissioner for criticizing officiating.  Not enough in my book.  $10K is nothing to Kiffin who's make anywhere from $2.5 to $4 million a season.

tim tebow...

I remember when Michael Vick came out of prison a few years ago and the so-called experts said he wouldn't be an effective NFL quarterback anymore.  He was too far removed from the game and his style didn't mesh in the NFL.  Many had to eat their words.  Vick is the most exciting player in the the league and a top five quarterback.

Tebow isn't Vick, but their styles have some similarities.  I think it's too early to tell if Tebow will be an decent QB in the league.   My goodness,  the Niner Alex Smith was also coached in college by Urban Meyer and up until this season he was generally viewed as a bust, especially since he was the number one pick in the 2005 draft.   Having Jim Harbaugh as his head coach has helped Smith flourish this season- his seventh year in the league.  I don't think Denver head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy are good fits for Tebow's talent.

It's all about wins.  Tebow is 1-1 as a starter this season.   Denver plays at Oakland this Sunday.  After the Raiders got shellacked by the Kansas City two Sundays ago, they need a win over the Broncos.   And hopefully, the Raiders sell out, so I can watched the game on television.   Tebow is good TV...

jamarcus russell...

Just read Sports Illustrated's profile on Russell by Jon Wertheim.  I was steered to that article by reading Michael Silver's Morning Rush in Yahoo Sports.

JaMarcus is still only 26 years old.  Sure he fucked up with the Raiders, but I just don't get why he doesn't get another chance?   Indianapolis has a couple QBs that don't belong in the NFL.   Miami has Matt Moore starting and is backed up by JP Losman.  Give me a fucking break!   Seattle with Tavaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst doesn't cause much fright to an opposing defense.

Sure JaMarcus has proven to be a fat lazy fuck in the past, but if anyone saw him at LSU knows the kid has talent.  The kid needs another chance for redemption...

kris humphries...

I saw him play in a McDonald's High School All American game several years ago.   I believe he played a season at the University of Minnesota and I lost track of him.

He was basically a mediocre NBA player who finally blossomed last season averaging 10 points and 10.4 rebounds a game with the New Jersey Nets- his eighth year in the league.  And Humphries is still only 26 years old.

How he got involved with that media whore Kim Kardashian is beyond my comprehension?

I didn't think the marriage would last a year, but a little over two months- give me a fucking break!

I hope this ordeal doesn't fuck up his NBA career?  Humphries took several years to develop into a decent NBA player and he still has room for improvement.

I'm definitely anti-Kim Kardashian.  She has parlayed no-talent into a lucrative multi-million dollar brand.  I've seen her in person about six years ago when she was dating Reggie Bush at Sundance.  She's very good looking in person and I remember how Bush was getting all the attention and she was basically unnoticed.   I could feel she didn't like that...

Now Reggie Bush is but an average NFL players and Kim Kardashian is a household name.

Unfortunately, Kris Humphries will be infamous for marrying the rich head case Kim Kardashian.

tony la russa...

Up until 2006, when La Russa managed the Cardinals to a World Series title, I never respected La Russa, because I thought he should have won more World Series titles with the Oakland A's with their powerful lineup of Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco and great pitching with Dave Stewart and Dennis Eckersley. The A's were in the World Series three straight years from 1988-1990 with La Russa as the manager.  In 1989, the A's swepted the San Francisco Giants that was marred by the Loma Prieta earthquake.  I went to the game 4 of the 1990 World Series in Oakland, when the A's were swept by the Cincinnati Reds.

Now, the Cardinals are up 1-0 in the 2011 World Series and I'm really starting to respect La Russa as a great manager.  St. Louis may not beat the Texas Rangers, but I wouldn't bet against them...

jim harbaugh...

I've seen him shake Pete Carroll in the same fashion as he did with overreacting Schwartz of the Lions. It really is too early to tell after 6 games, but Harbaugh seems like the real deal. He proved me wrong at Stanford where he came from Division 3 University of San Diego. Harbaugh is definitely a cocky bastard who rubs people the wrong way, but the guy is a winner. Fuck Jim Schwartz!

washington huskies football...

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and I attended UDub.   Husky football is more important in Seattle than the Mariners and Seahawks combined.

I can't believe the Huskies are 5-1 with their only loss being to #14 Nebraska, who were ranked #11 at the time.

Washington is playing Stanford in Palo Alto next saturday, which could be an interesting game, but I'm fairly certain the Cardinal will prevail with QB Andrew Luck throwing about 4 TD passes.

I'm happy for my Dawgs, but I'm realistic and I'll be satisfied with an 8-4 record with a minor bowl appearance.

steve wozniak...

You gotta love Woz waiting in line for 20 hours to buy an iPhone 4S at the Apple Store in Los Gatos.   I've seen him around the South Bay more than a few times and he always seemed to have a great attitude.  It's helps being a multi-millionaire who still receives checks from Apple.

Seeing the co-founder of Apple enthusiastically getting his iPhone 4S makes me want to replace my iPhone 4, but I'll wait for the next generation.

volume level of films...

I watch a lot of movies on Netflix and I've been noticing the volume on many films are inconsistent.  One moment it's too loud and the next moment I can barely hear the dialog.  This fucking drives me nuts!  I have to keep adjusting the volume control!

holding a wine glass correctly...

And I'm talking about a wine glass with a stem.  I was watching The Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee with guest actor Anthony Mackie and he brought a bottle of chablis from France.  Apparently, Mackie owns a restaurant/bar in Brooklyn which serves only American wine and beer.   He brought a bottle from his own stash.

Hoda doesn't know how to hold a wine glass.  She doesn't hold it by the stem, which is more crucial when drinking white wine, where she's actually warming the wine by holding it by the bowl.

Kathie Lee and Mackie know how to hold a wine glass correctly.

I was taught as a 21 year old how to hold a wine glass when I went wine tasting at Beringer Winery in Napa many, many moons ago.

ios 5...

I own an iPhone 4 and I won't upgrade to an iPhone 4S. I'll wait for the 5. I won't be able to use Siri, but I don't really give a shit, because I don't use the voice control functions on my phone.

Highlights of iOS 5 for me:

iMessage is a good app since it enables me to use wifi to text. I don't get a very good signal in my apartment and texting can be a challenge at times.

Reminders is another app that comes in handy. I can use this app to remind myself to buy specific groceries, etc... without using the Notes app.

I'm not a big tweeter, so the enhanced Twitter functions does nothing for me.

Being able to use the the volume up button to take a picture comes in handy, as does the access from lock screen to open up the Camera app. I will note that you need to double tap the home button from the lock screen to get to that point.

I haven't played around enough with the editing functions in the Photos app to get a good read on it. There are many other improvements that I failed to mention, yet the bottom line is- I highly recommend downloading iOS5 for any iPhone 4 user and iPad user.

jimmy rollins...

The Alameda native is a free agent and Vallejo's C.C. Sabathia predicted recently that Rollins would sign with the San Francisco Giants. I hope not. Rollins is turning 33 in November and his numbers have been fading the last few seasons. Plus, he wants a five-year contract. I'd rather see the G-Men develop Brandon Crawford at shortstop, than waste $40-60 million on a player who has never hit .300 and is definitely on the downside of his career. Let another team waste their money on Rollins...

aaron rodgers....

I was lucky enough to see him play live for CAL. I knew he'd be an NFL quarterback, but never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd be the premier signal caller in the league with a healthy and effective Tom Brady still playing. Since Peyton Manning is pretty much out for the 2011 season, his name can't be put in the equation.

Rodgers has done well to rid himself of the mechanical release that CAL coach Jeff Tedford teaches his quarterbacks. He's now more of a gunslinger like Favre without the high interception rate.

I just noticed a State Farm commercial where they mock his touchdown celebration. It's where Rodgers puts on an invisible championship belt. It's a pretty funny ad.

Alex Smith has done well under first year head coach Jim Harbaugh's tutelage, but he's no Aaron Rodgers and Niners will forever regret picking Smith over Rodgers in the 2005 NFL Draft.

Super Bowl victories- Rodgers 1 and Favre 1. Favre a certain Hall of Famer. Rodgers?

steve jobs...

It was inevitable, but I was shocked and saddened by the passing of Steve Jobs...

I am a Macuser. I have never owned a PC and I never will...

I remember when Apple stock was $12 a share.

I'm writing this post on a MacBook.

I own a MacBook Air. I had an original iPad. I've had four iPhones.

I still have an iMac.

I had an opportunity to buy Apple stock when it went public in 1980. Stupidly, I didn't take advantage of that opportunity.

I will never forget October, 5, 2011... I was at Costco in the City when I received a text message from MSNBC on my iPhone 4 about Jobs' demise.

sf comicle...

It's a shame that this rag is doing such a shitty job of covering the iPhone5 announcement. The New York Times is doing a far superior job. Even the The Guardian from the UK is covering the event better than the comicle...

It's actually called the iPhone 4S.

vegas notes...

The Hard Rock Hotel pool is open to Rockstar members Monday thru Thursday. You don't need to be staying at the hotel.

Pink Taco in the HRH offers $1 street tacos and small frozen margaritas from 1pm to 3pm. Also Monday-Thursday. You need to show your Rockstar card. The tacos aren't substantial like a Tijuana street taco can be. I had 8 yesterday, which barely tickled my tummy.

lucca deli...

Located on Chestnut near Steiner. I used to live less than a block away on Steiner. I've had more than a few meals at this joint.

I love their sandwiches, but Lucca's macaroni salad is phenomenal!

Just yesterday, I noshed on salami sandwich on a soft sourdough roll with a small order of mac salad and walked to the Presidio and sat in front of the Letterman Digital Arts Center and I thought to myself how delicious my meal was!

I'm just not a big fan of the Marina... Too old. On Saturday, it seemed like a frat party on Chestnut.

tiki barber...

I was one of the many who was happy about his fall from grace. I sensed something fake about the guy. He retired from football a year before the Giants won the Super Bowl. I didn't believe he deserved to be on the Today Show. And then his betrayal of his wife...

But come on! Enough is enough! The guy needs another chance. He's better than many running backs on NFL rosters. Sure he's 36 years old, but his body hasn't taken the pounding for four seasons.

Well, the guy just got engaged. I hope he gets another chance in broadcasting?

letting go of the past...

I need to move forward and forget about how someone has disappointed me more than anyone I've ever encountered in the my life...

For over five months, my life has been a shambles. I knew in my gut that this thing was wrong, but I kept pursuing it. I have only myself to blame...

Hopefully, by writing my thoughts, it will be a release and I can start enjoying this precious life again...

the worst woman i've ever met...

Never judge a book by its cover. It will only disappoint you... I was mesmerized by a picture of a woman and I just had to meet her. It took me a couple years, but I finally met her. It was great at first, but once I found out what she's made of, she turned out to be a nightmare...

History is important. I try to give a person a benefit of the doubt, but what they did in their past is an indicator of what she'll do in the present and the future.

I hate to regret things, but I truly regret meeting this despicable person. She really is the worst woman I've ever met...

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

soul searching...

I am weeding someone out of my life that has caused me much pain and sorrow. I was mesmerized by her beauty and she wasn't the person I thought she was. It was a one-sided friendship in which I got nothing in return. One shouldn't expect reward when you do something from the goodness of your heart, but appreciation is all I wanted...

One thing I like about cross country flights is that wifi is available to pass the time and take care of business.

Love going to Hawaii, but wifi doesn't work over the ocean unless it's from a satellite..

yesterday was a good day...

The morning started off well, but after that, I felt an uneasiness. It's all in my head

Today is a new day and I'm heading to New York.

today will be a good day...

I don't blog enough. I used to blog all of the time. I keep saying I will and hopefully I can make a promise to myself that I will blog on a consistent basis again.

That being said, I look forward to today, because it could determine how my life will be for the immediate future and perhaps beyond...

one reason I don't read the newspaper in honolulu...

This idiot sports columnist for the Star Advertiser is touting a walk-on UH quarterback as a Heisman Trophy candidate.

I won't even mention the sportswriter and QB by name. It's too fucking ridiculous!!

Reading the newspaper in HNL is like reading the local paper in Grass Valley, CA...

honolulu zoo...

Went there for the first time in decades. I'm glad I went, but I couldn't call the zoo a world class facility.

Today was the first day of their summer concert series where the entrance fee is only $3 after 4:30pm and the music starts at 6pm.

house without a key...

There wasn't a soul in the bar at the Halekulani in HNL and since I was wearing a dress shirt with $100 shorts- I was relegated to the outside area...

Stupid fucking rule. No shorts in the bar area. Fuck, I go to the best places in the City in shorts...

blind post...

While at a stoplight on Ward and Ala Moana Blvd- I saw a pretentious fellow who used to live in the City crossing the street.

This was 2 minutes shy of 6am.

I yelled his name and he saw me...

Small fucking world!

He's blended in with those fugly business aloha shirts.

I need to sell t-shirts to help pay for an event that has cost me too much money out of my pocket.

I no longer have XLs available, but I have S,M, and L.

If you're in San Francisco, I can personally sell you the t-shirt for $20.

Out of the area, I need to charge $25 which will include shipping and handling.

I will try to set up a Paypal account. If not, it's a cash only proposition.

Thank you!

Actually, I only have three shirts left- two smalls and a medium.

a great friend...

I met her at Sundance in 2010 and saw her again during this years Sundance and we developed a nice friendship.

She was very supportive to me when I was going through some very difficult emotional times. She lives in Salt Lake City.

I have an event on May 12 in San Francisco and she's only going to be town for a few hours, but she made arrangements to come to my fundraiser. I'm so impressed!

That's a great friend...

blu restaurant @ the scla/sf...

Some places need a chance to shine and the location of this restaurant is so good that it just has to become a destination place.

Blu is located on the fourth floor adjacent to the club. It's a separate entity from the club and is open to the public.

life...

You know, it's amazing what one can do when they put their mind into things...

It's fucking unreal...

I just have to say, in life- just go for it...

You have nothing to lose...

asking for what you want...

You just gotta just ask for what you want in this world...

Sometimes there can be controversy, but most the time it turns out well, because asking eliminates most of the gray area that fucks up things in life.

When situations are more black and white- there's more smooth sailing...

The bottom line, ask for the sale...

jeremy lin...

The kid finished the regular season with the Golden State Warriors by scoring 12 points in 23 minutes with 5 rebounds and 5 assists along with 2 steals against the Portland Trailblazers.

Lin makes things happen and one reason I'm hoping Keith Smart doesn't return as coach is that he hardly played Jeremy all season. Smart really restricted the Harvard grads progress in his first year in the NBA. Something I would have expected out of Don Nelson...

JLin shot 5-8 from the field including a 3-pointer. And the kid from Paly HIgh had zero turnovers. Paly is the nickname for Palo Alto HIgh School.

It's good shit...

giving...

I'm a giver and I truly believe it's better to give than receive...

However, I must remind myself, never, ever expect anything in return...

If I can always remember that mantra- everything will turn out in the wash...

buff or chubby...

I saw a friend today that I haven't seen for over a year. She said I looked buff and I said I haven't really lifted weights for more than a year.

Before we said goodbye she once again said I looked buff, because the last time she saw me I looked chubby...

Anyway, I need to lose some weight and really get buff...

mornings are the worst...

Recently I've been waking up in the morning and actually believing I've woken up from a nightmare and everything is okay...

Then I come back to reality...

endings...

One thing for certain in life is that there will always be an ending...

I'm not happy about a certain ending that just happened in my life, but I knew it was inevitable.

It doesn't make it any easier and only time will heal my sadness...

I woke up this morning thinking it was nightmare, but then it hit me that it is reality...

metreon in the city...

I try to avoid the joint...

It's like a ghost town except for the AMC theaters.

Target is going to open in the Metreon to give the facility a much needed boost...

In Sausalito- a very good sushi joint. Their chirashi is stellar!

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

north beach restaurant...

Don't go there... It's good, but overpriced...

I went there about 2 weeks ago and was charged on my account. When I returned this evening, the idiot manager wanted to charge me again...

That's how they make money...

He's a fucking moron!

NY is done with the joint...

C'est la vie...

sag awards...

Screen Actor Guild Awards were held on Sunday. My question is what the fuck was Kim Kardashian doing @ the awards? She doesn't act, can't act, and will never act...

Quite frankly, I'm tired of seeing her...

When I saw her on Main Street in Park City three or four years ago with Reggie Bush, nobody paid any attention to her. She's pretty in person, but it just pisses me off that someone with no talent can millions upon millions...

I really think it cheapened the SAG Awards by having her attend...

abraxas...

A Japanese film.

The problem is I was inebriated during the viewing of this film and I fell asleep on several occasions. I'm a snorer and someone nudged more than twice to wake me up.

I watched enough of the movie to tell that I'm not interested in seeing it again.

C'est la vie...

circumstance...

Up until Wednesday evening I had no interested in seeing this film which revolves around a couple of Iranian teenagers which is supposed to take place in Tehran, but was actually shot in Lebanon for obvious reasons. And the film is mostly in farsi.

I saw CIRCUMSTANCE @ the Prospector Square Theatre @ 11:30pm showing. The seat that I chose to sit in(2nd row, aisle seat on the right) had a semi-obstructed view because there's a podium on the stage. Sometimes, I couldn't read the subtitles because the podium was in the way. I sat in the same seat in a morning screening and the obstruction didn't come into play because it was an english language film.

I enjoyed the film... #9.

sound of my voice...

Film # 8 for NY.

Since I saw Sundance it girl Brit Marling interviewed during a Cinema Cafe @ the Filmmaker Lodge on Saturday, I really wanted to see one of her two films she has @ the festival. The other being ANOTHER EARTH.

In addition to being one of the stars of the film, Brit is also the cowriter and produced the film.

I had high expectations going into the Wednesday morning screening @ Prospector Square. I'm an early riser, therefore the 8:30am start time wasn't a factor.

I didn't like the film. Perhaps it's an age thing. I have a hard time relating to filmmakers who are about half my age...

I'm going to try to see ANOTHER EARTH on Thursday to get another read on young Brit Marling. Different director. Great buzz about that film.

I must mention that Nicole Vicius is an attractive actress...

all your dead ones...

Saw a 3pm showing @ the historic Egyptian Theatre. Terrible, terrible film!! It was a waste of 90 minutes and a waste of 15 dollars...

A Colombian film in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition @ Sundance.

the oregonian...

One of the shittiest films I've seen in my life that I've sat through without walking out...

how to die in oregon...

Saw the doc @ a temple in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival.

The best documentary I've seen @ Sundance,,,

It's about physician-assisted suicide in Oregon which was the first state to legalize it in 1994.

It really is about terminally ill people taking control of their lives and having the opportunity to die with dignity...

Pictured is Cody Curtis with her daughter. Cody was the star of the doc. Her husband and son were present @ the showing, however her daughter wasn't there... And wasn't really featured in the film except for in the very beginning?

jack lalanne...

I was actually shocked he passed away @ 96 on Sunday...

I thought he'd live to @ least 100...

I know his grandnephew Chris LaLanne who opened up a gym in the City.

Now, I know I need to get back into the gym and get my body into shape in honor of Jack LaLanne...

Decent biru...

to.get.her...

Interesting film by director Erica Dunton...

I won't give the plot away, but I really enjoyed the ending after nearly falling asleep in the movie...

Shot in Wilmington, NC which is a mecca for filmmaking.

Lead actress Jazzy De Lisser is very good, as is Chelsea Logan.

Jazzy is a great name!

day 4 @ sundance...

I've seen 3 films thus far- ATTENBERG, UNCLE KENT, and BENAVIDES BORN.

None of the above are excellent films, but the star of BENAVIDES BORN may become a breakout star @ this festival- Corina Calderon.

I was lucky enough to see Corina interviewed @ the Filmmakers Lodge in the morning before the world premiere @ night.

2011 sundance film festival...

It took me awhile to arrive in Salt Lake last night. My flight from SFO went to Denver first which is about 545 miles east of SLC. Then I changed planes in Denver and headed to Utah.

My total travel time from my apartment in the City to the condo I'm staying in Park City was over 9 hours...

Anyway, this morning I'm viewing a film @ 9am called ATTENBERG. It's a Greek film that was @ the Venice Film Festival last year.

neiman marcus mens rooms...

In Union Square.

The one in the basement in mens clothing is the best.

Followed by the facility on the 5th floor.

Third best is the one in The Rotunda.

Pahlmeyer was once a featured winery @ The Press Club in the City on Yerba Buena Lane.
