double take...

For my 13th Sundance in a row- this was first film I viewed...

I saw DOUBLE TAKE @ the historic Egyptian Theatre for its premier showing @ 9am this morning. I love the venue, but I must admit I've seen some very strange movies there...

There is a Hitchcock and Cold War theme to the film...

I kind of wish I was high or a bit drunk and then, I would have appreciated DOUBLE TAKE much more...

patty's inn...

Yesterday, I had some time to kill before taking the train back to the City. I was in San Jose to meet my sis and she dropped me off @ Diridon Station. I walked one block to Patty's...

Anyway, once I walked into this dive bar, right before my eyes was an attractive and voluptuous forty something blond bartender. I thought I was dreaming...

And she was wearing a low cut white shirt and enjoyed showing off her magnificent breasts...

Better yet, I asked for a Black Label on the rocks and it was a substantial pour and inexpensive...

Let's just say that I missed two of my trains because I was having so much fun @ Patty's Inn...

The bartender's name is Cynthia or Cyn, but I'd rather spell her name- Sin...

Sin works from 11-6 Monday to Friday. She's definitely worth the price of admission...

whiskey gal...

I really love her writing...

"i'm sorry about the heart ache you're dealing with. i may be younger than you but i know this much is true: it NEVER gets easy. unless your heart shrivels up into a dry raisin and you no longer have feelings. so at least know that you're human. no matter how old you are, matters of the heart is and always will be heart wrenching. staying sober for a bit helps too. alcohol makes everything messy! and this coming from a whiskey gal."

Now, if I can only stay sober... I may like scotch too much...

match.com...

There's a funny line by Rita Wilson in IT'S COMPLICATED regarding match.com. I myself, probably wouldn't use the site, but a good friend of mine has had success meeting women on that site and he's now in a relationship from someone he met on match.com.

The line goes something like this- "Janey, you want to meet a guy I met @ match.com that I didn't like?"

the golden globes...

I didn't watch the telecast because I needed to get out of the house after virtually staying in for two straight days watching playoff football...

Jeff Bridges win for Best Actor in a Drama for CRAZY HEART- I haven't seen the film, but as I wrote in a previous post- I predict he will win the Oscar for Best Actor. I really enjoyed George Clooney's performance in UP IN THE AIR, but to me, it wasn't Oscar worthy...

Let me get back to Jeff Bridges. On his fourth nomination for a Golden Globe Best Actor, he finally won. Bridges is definitely one of my favorite actors. I'm very happy for him...

I was also very happy about GLEE's win for Best Television Series- Comedy or Musical. GLEE beat out heavy hitters like 30 ROCK and THE OFFICE. I'm a big fan of another nominee ENTOURAGE, but I feel that show has run its course... GLEE and CALIFORNICATION are my two favorite shows on television.

My only other comment on the Golden Globes is that I can't believe Chloe Sevigny of BIG LOVE won Best Supporting Actress in a television series over Jane Lynch of GLEE. I thought that was going to be a slam dunk. I respect Chloe as an actress and she takes chances like doing a hardcore fellatio scene in BROWN BUNNY, but Lynch is simply phenomenal in GLEE...

Oh, I have one more- THE HANGOVER winning Best Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical is a joke. Entertaining and funny, but that film was seriously flawed...

BTW, pictured with Bridges is Maggie Gyllenhaal who I'll never forget from the film- THE SECRETARY...

it's complicated...

Well, that's my life in a nutshell...

Actually, I saw the film starring Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin last night and I liked it more than I anticipated. And I didn't even read any reviews beforehand which definitely would have clouded my judgement...

The chemistry between Streep and Baldwin is fantastic. I thought going into the film that I was going to go against the character played by Steve Martin, but he turned out to be such a likeable fellow, I ended up pulling for him.

Chocolate croissants. I will definitely have a chocolate croissant today. Watch the film and you'll understand why I say that...

I like a scene where after Streep and Baldwin have sex, Alec grabs Meryl's crotch over her clothes and says, "home sweet home." And he said something to the effect of- you've gone native, I see you stopped getting bikini waxes...

Baldwin was once a pretty boy and now he's transformed himself into such a competent actor. I love him in 30 ROCK. Many times I feel Meryl Streep is miscast, but she is definitely one of the greatest actresses of all-time. I still remember her from KRAMER VS KRAMER...

coming back to reality...

I just loved the Minnesota shellacking of the Cowboys! Romo showed his true colors by throwing an interception and losing two fumbles...

He's just not a big game quarterback...

And the argument that the Vikings poured it on with their last touchdown pass by Favre- bullshit!! Dallas gave up. They should be ashamed of themselves and washed up linebacker Keith Brooking is a crybaby...

more words of wisdom...

"When I was a child and when my dad used to tuck me in, he used to tell me "if you were never to wake up tomorrow, can you now go to sleep and say with conviction that you have done your best today?" I know, heavy to say to a child. But that left such an imprint on me to do our best. This year will be a productive, challenging, adventurous and rewarding one."

A short passage from a wonderful e-mail I received this morning from a very special person...

If that doesn't motivate a person to do their best each and everyday, nothing will...

sunday morning thoughts...

I received a very nice e-mail from one of my readers. I thanked her privately and she really did make my day...

My blog has helped two people connect after they had lost contact for ten years. I gotta feel good about that...

I'm pulling for the Vikings over the Cowboys and the Chargers over the Jets. I feel good about the San Diego pick, but Dallas is hot right now, therefore I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Minnesota.

brooklyn lager...

When I drink it, it brings back memories of me and my nephew having dinner @ a Japanese restaurant on Saint Marks Place called Kenka where you make a small cotton candy after dinner. This is in Manhattan and I'm not talking about Kansas...

No we didn't have Brooklyn Lager there, we drank a pitcher or two of diluted Japanese beer.

After we ate, we went to some store and bought a six pack of Brooklyn Lager to drink @ his apartment.

I'm drinking it now and it has too much bite for me. But, nonetheless, it brings back happy memories and that's a good thing...

saints look tough...

I was surprised they came back so strong after losing their last three games in a row in the regular season.

Right now, they have to be favored over the winner of the Dallas-Minnesota game.

The Saints will have home field advantage and they seem to be a healthy team @ this late juncture in the season.

Man, it feels good writing about sports...

If Reggie Bush has a game like he did against the Cardinals- New Orleans will win next week...

knowing why...

This is a passage of an e-mail I sent to someone who I enjoy exchanging e-mails with explaining why I fell for someone so young...

"What I liked about her? Let's put aside the physical aspect. I liked her intelligence. I liked her spunk. I liked her moments of insecurity and sensitivity. I liked her sense of humor. I liked her curiosity. I liked a lot a things about her. That's why not having her in my life is painful to me."

But, life goes on...

a time to move on...

So much has happened to me in the last two weeks and I actually feel great that I'm no longer a member of SCLA/SF... I feel like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders...

I will miss all my friends @ the club and if they are true friends we will keep in touch...

There are certain members and employees that I won't miss, but now being on the outside- I wish them well...

I can't hold a grudge against anyone and I just want to move forward in life...

an incident @ the bar last night...

Basically I was sitting @ the bar talking to my friend Arcade when that person came up to me and said, "You have a problem with me?" And he got into my face basically bumping me. In his sweaty workout clothes he had physical contact with me. I said, "Yes I do have a problem with you."

Above is part of an e-mail I sent the the AGM of my club regarding an incident where some moron approached me @ the bar.

Basically I can't stand the bastard...

words of wisdom...

glad you're feeling more peaceful and perhaps more hopeful. everyday, think about something that makes you thankful to be alive. it's a lot more complex than we give this process credit for. and really...think about it deliberately. not just, i'm thankful i'm alive. because clearly there are plenty people who are alive and do shit and just take up space. life is so much more precious and rewarding when it is LIVED. to the fullest, pain and all.

Part of an e-mail from a friend who I lost contact with...

Priceless...

advice from a user of match.com...

And it ain't me...

He said, "Most women use old pics so my advice is meet them asap for coffee not dinner. Need the daylight and sobriety."

Classic...

no more text messages of the day...

I find it counterproductive to copy and paste text messages from a certain individual who disappointed the hell out of me on New Years Eve...

I really need to go forward, forgive, and forget...

my prediction...

And I'll probably be wrong and I have yet to see the film...

Jeff Bridges will win the Oscar for Best Actor for CRAZY HEART.

I just feel it...

stripper of the day...

First of all, I'm not going to make this an everyday occurance...

Her stage name is Marciana and she works @ Sapphire in Las Vegas...

I believe she's blond @ this moment in time, but when I met her nearly a year ago she was brunette...

And when we met she was attending UCLA...

If you're in Vegas and happen to frequent Sapphire- ask for her...

Ask her if she graduated from college...

text message of the day...

I would also be immensely pleased and thrilled to say the least if you were to bless me with a tiny vile of fresh tears.

One of the many bizarre text messages I received from a certain someone...

marie francis...

I have to be honest... I'm a member of Playboy's Cyber Club and one of my favorite cybergirls of the month has a birthday today.

She's a capricorn like my Father...

Happy 26th Birthday Marie Francis!!

But, I will always have hope...

there is nothing worse...

When you invite a friend out for a drink and he's on his cellphone the whole time...

Fuck that!!

enjoying my dreams...

I hate to admit this, but I've been enjoying my sleep because my dreams have been wonderful...

I've already forgotten a dream that I just had, but rest assured, it was pleasurable. No sex was involved, just pleasant interaction with people @ a bar/restaurant.

I really need to take notes on my dreams immediately after I get up, but I find myself in that transitional state where I'm foggy where I am...

time healing wounds...

I was just starting to mentally feel better when I had a setback last night when I realized that a person who I was involved with blocked my iPhone from texting and calling her. I had an inkling she had done such, but I wasn't absolutely positive. Now, I am and I'm pretty depressed...

There wasn't any dissension between us, thus I'm just puzzled why she did it?

Monday, January 4, 2010

on my way home...

I've spent 5 minutes @ my apartment in the last 2 weeks...

Can't wait to get home...

I love Black Label, but I really love Macallan 12...

Black Label is like a comfort drink for me...

ny in a funk...

I'm not going to go into details, but New Year's Eve wasn't the best day of my life...

Time will heal my wounds, but I must admit, I'm drinking a double Black Label on the rocks while watching the Niners sputter against the Rams...

text messaging...

I hope this doesn't happen again, but I fell for a lady via texting...

It's a first...

I'm going to make a concerted effort to write more letters in 2010...

And actually talking to people over the phone as opposed to text messaging...

bobby bowden...

Watching Bobby Bowden coach his last game to victory against West Virginia has brought tears to my eyes. I admit it...

I strongly believe Bowden should have been allowed to coach one more season...

happy new year...

I always hope to have a great new year, but for some reason I believe 2010 will be crucial...

To everyone who stops by to read my blog- have a Happy New Year!
