Anyway, back to VETTED. Investigate (someone) thoroughly, especially in order to ensure that they are suitable for a job requiring secrecy, loyalty, or trustworthiness.
Obviously, Sarah Palin wasn't carefully VETTED by John McCain when he chose her as his running mate.
