Okuribito OST: - Memory -

Great song! Great movie!

pujols...

Got a close look @ him batting against Sanchez in the first inning.

Pujols drives a double into the left field corner.

He's a great hitter, but I will always believe the guy is juiced up...

Pujols ended up 3-4 for the day.

The guy still looks big to me, but on a recent cover of SI he looks much smaller and less muscular than on the cover of Muscle & Fitness two years earlier.

tres agaves 2...

The place is fucking huge! That's a bar in the back, in addition to the front bar.

Don't care for the 3.5% health care charge and I'm all for employee health care.

It should be factored into the prices of the food and drink. It's called psychological pricing.

Think about it. We in San Francisco pay 9.5% sales tax which is bad enough- adding another 3.5% makes NY an unhappy diner.

tres agaves...

One block from AT&T Park.

First impression- indifferent service.

I must say the bussers are good.

The effeminate front person wasn't helpful. I asked him for a brunch menu and he said he'd get one for me. He never did. I didn't feel like asking again. I ordered off of the regular menu.

The server took his sweet time making first contact and my limeade took too long to get.
The joint wasn't even a quarter full. Make that an eighth...

The chips and salsa are excellent- especially the red salsa.

I ordered the chicken enchiladas. Very tasty and not heavy @ all. I just didn't like the fact it was topped with chopped white onion. I despise white onions.

The beans are good that come with the entrée.

For the price of a hot dog and beer @ AT&T, I can have a tasty meal @ Tres Agaves without the brew...

john bowker...

This kid needs to be back in the major leagues. The other day I wrote that he was hitting .307. Now, he's hitting .342.

I know his fielding is suspect, especially @ first base last season in the big leagues, but Bowker has played primarily in the outfield for Fresno this season.

Release Rich Aurilia and bring up John Bowker. The kid deserves another chance.

He did have 326 @ bats with the Giants last season with 10 home runs. Overpaid Aaron Rowand had only 13 home runs in nearly twice the @ bats. BTW, Rowand the waste of money is paid nearly 10 million a year...

Wow! That Fresno Grizzlies uniform is extremely ugly!

the last bart into the city from west oakland...

12:54 am. It arrives in the City, first stop Embarcadero @ 1:01am. Seven minutes across the Bay. This particular BART arrives @ SFO @ 1:35am...

california street cable car...

The last cable car going up Nob Hill to Van Ness is @ 1am...

The opposite direction going from Van Ness to the Hyatt Regency- the last cable car is @ 12:15am or so...

oak's card room...

I'm hoping I go the rest of my life without setting foot in the joint...

It probably won't happen, but I'm still hoping...

jasmin's cafe & deli...

I know I've written about the place, but for the first time I'll called an order in for pickup. You see, most everything is made to order there, therefore it can take some time to get your food.

I ordered their teriyaki chicken over rice. It's very good and ranks up to par with rice plates you get in Hawaii. In this case, you get a small green salad and a tasty pasta salad along with the teriyaki chicken over rice.

I asked over the phone for dressing on the side. For some reason, when I got to Jasmin's to pickup my food, along with my order was an order of fries, in which I didn't want. The person who took my order thought I said, french fries, as opposed to dressing on the side. What the hell, I took the fries anyway.

Since Jasmin's no longer uses those crinkly fries- I'm not into their pomme frites. No more fries from Jasmin's for NY...

Jasmin's a good neighborhood eatery located on Bush near Mason.

phil spector gets 19 years to life...

It took six years, but finally justice is served.

I just don't want to hear about the guy anymore.

I'm interested what the life span is for a 69 year old going into prison for the first time?

I saw Lana Clarkson in person @ a Glamourcon convention in November of 2002 and she was beautiful in person. Tragically, she was murdered a few months later by Spector.

ran into o'hurley again...

I had to have the chicken pot pie @ The Big 4 and John O'Hurley came into the bar/restaurant several minutes after me.

I've seen O'Hurley three times since Monday.

1. Singing the "Star Spangled Banner" @ the Giants game versus the Braves on Monday.

2. Working out @ SCLA/SF on Wednesday on the 2nd floor and later @ the bar on the 4th floor.

3. Having drinks and food @ the Big 4, after his performance of "Spamalot" @ the Golden Gate Theater.

He introduced himself and he seems like a very nice guy.

Now, I must see "Spamalot" while it's in town.

And, coincidentally I was watching "Seinfeld" on Friday night and viewed the episode that J Peterman/John O'Hurley was introduced in called "The Understudy."

a shitty review by an entertainment weekly writer...

Regarding the film "Powder Blue" starring Jessica Biel that went straight to DVD.

It's probably a D film, but the female writer failed to mention the buzz about the film is Biel's topless scene.

rich aurilia...

When reliever Sergio Romo returns to the active roster probably this weekend, the Giants need to cut or send down one position player. Although, I'm far from a Kevin Frandsen fan who has yet to get a hit in 15 @ bats this season, Rich Aurilia needs to be released.

Richie is batting .177 this year. It's time for him to hang it up. He's 37.

I talked with Aurilia a few days after the 2002 World Series and he seemed like a very nice guy. He mentioned how his wife was verbally abused by the nouveau Angels fan in Anaheim. I swear when I attended game 6 in Orange County, I was surprised by all the newbie fans. I asked several fans how long they were Angel fans and many said only a few weeks...

Rich Aurilia will always be a Giant. The year he hit .324 with 37 home runs, 97 RBI, and 114 runs was an aberration and could have been fueled by PED. It also helped he was hitting in front or after Barry Lamar Bonds...

If the Giants do release Aurilia, I'd like to see him as a coach in the organization.

I'd also send Frandsen back to Fresno and bring up John Bowker who's hitting .307 for the Grizzlies.

quasi celebrity sighting...

John O'Hurley @ SCLA/SF. He sang before the Giants game vs the Braves yesterday, which I call the Ishikawa Experience...

The dude has a good deep voice.

John is currently in the City performing in "Spamalot."

I feel O'Hurley is best known for his role in "Seinfeld".

O'Hurley seems to be a good guy...

hunan home's...

Their lunch special is good. It comes with a tasty cup of hot & sour soup.

I like the hunan chicken- diced chicken sauteed with garlic, cabbage, and green pepper in chef's hot sauce. It's definitely spicy! Definitely don't eat the red hot chili peppers in the sauce!!

$6.25 for lunch served from 11:30am-2:30pm M-F. Items are primarily $6.25 and $6.95.

Brown rice is fifty cents extra. Plus, you get a sliced oranges for dessert and a fortune cookie. I mention fortune cookie because many restaurants in C-Town don't offer fortune cookies after your meal.

Located on Jackson near Kearny.

I must also note that one doesn't get soup in a take out order.

speaking of tan lines...

I like them, then again, I'm old school...

Models in this day and age, don't have tan lines.

Back in 1972, tan lines were the norm. Playboy's Miss March Ellen Michaels.

What got me on the subject, a facebook friend named Rebecca Avalon who posed that question on facebook and on her website.

jose canseco...

What the fuck is he doing? In his first professional MMA fight and I hope his last, he gets beaten in 76 seconds by a 7'2 330lb korean kickboxer.

This is an idiot who fought Danny Bonaduce of "The Partridge Family" fame to a draw in a stupid celebrity boxing match. Canseco outweighed Danny Partridge by @ least 70 lbs.

Oh yes, ex-Philadephia Eagle Vai Sikahema knocked out Canseco in 30 seconds in another celebrity boxing match last summer.

Canseco, please, please, please go away!!!

nba draft pick #2 memphis...

People are crazy about Ricky Rubio, the eighteen year old point guard from Spain. I'm not. I saw him play briefly in the Beijing Olympics. He can be exciting to watch, but I don't like his weak looking body and athleticism.

If the Grizzlies were to draft Rubio @ 2, he would have some sort of comfort level playing with Marc Gasol, Pau's brother and a teammate on Spain's Olympic Team.

And I hear reports that O.J. Mayo is suppose to be "the" point guard for the Grizzlies. To me, he's a shooting guard.

Then there's Mike Conley. He's a legitimate point guard from Ohio State who is still only 21 years old with two seasons under his belt. He's progressed from his rookie season. Plus, Conley is one of the fastest guards in the league. It helps having an Olympic Gold Medalist in the triple jump as a Father...

I would draft center Hasheem Thabeet out of UConn @ 2 or try to trade with a team below me who is dying to draft Rubio like the Sacramento Kings, which is also a team that Rubio wouldn't mind playing for and still get Thabeet.

A center like Thabeet would really be a better fit for Memphis who need a defensive presence in the middle. Conley was most effective playing with center Greg Oden in college and high school. I foresee Hasheem Thabeet and Mike Conley as potentially a very good center, point guard combination...

ishikawa 4-4...

Which included a two run homer- I missed it since we left in the seventh inning.

The Giants really needed that 8-2 win over the Braves.

Ishikawa's first hit was a pop fly in the infield lost in the sun by three Braves which was ruled a hit.

Travis improved his batting average over thirty points in one game.

My buddy bought a Ishikawa t-shirt- NY is still waiting...

Great game young man!!!!

pitching matchup for the giants-braves game on monday...

My first thought- Atlanta's starting pitcher Javier Vazquez is 131-132 for his career. That's what you call an average starting pitcher. Vazquez is 4-3 for the season. He's better than an average pitcher this season. Looking more closely @ his career record, Javier went 5-15 in his first season with Montreal.

Jonathan Sanchez is 1-4 for the season and is 14-22 for his career. Does that constitute being a below average pitcher? I think so... Which actually causes some concern for me, because it lowers Sanchez's value in a trade.

In my view, Sanchez is expendable because 19 year old lefty Madison Bumgarner should be ready to be in the rotation by next season @ the latest.

lebron vs kobe...

I prefer LeBron's total all-around game, but when a games is on the line @ the free throw line, Kobe is the guy you want up there.

LeBron isn't even close to Kobe as a free show shooter. He's a career 73.8% from the charity stripe. Kobe is 84% for his career.

LeBron missed more than a few crucial free throws in their loss to Orlando this evening.

I hate to say this, but the Magic have really outplayed the Cavaliers in the series thus far...

travis ishikawa...

Of course, I'm a fan of the half-Japanese kid from the state of Washington, but will he hit enough to warrant staying in the big leagues?

Right now, it doesn't look good.

There are finally Ishikawa t-shirts @ the Giants dugout. NY won't buy one just yet...

cleveland @ orlando...

I'm really looking forward to this game. The greatness of LeBron James just astounds me!

Although, the Cavs have had trouble defending the pick and roll and giving Hedo and Rashard Lewis open looks @ threes, I feel Cleveland should make some adjustments and take @ least one game in Orlando.

I've been anti-Rafer Alston for years. The Magic will not win this series with this idiot @ point guard. Skip to my Lou isn't a point guard. His shot selection is horrible and he's not a good passer. Plus, he's a horrible shooter! Orlando really misses Jameer Nelson.

Cleveland will win tonight...

Orlando wins and Alston has a good game...

Saturday, May 23, 2009

juan uribe...

When the Giants needed a hit, Uribe doubled with two outs and the bases loaded against the Mariners in the eight inning of a 1-0 game clearing the bases. Giants 3-1.

Now, Fred Lewis hits a towering two run homer to right field. Giants 5-1.

Hopefully, the Giants and Matt Cain hold on to the lead. Cain would go to 5-1 and make a case for himself to make the All-Star team.

ducca in the westin on 3rd...

Those crispy fritters sottocenere @ Ducca are amazing! They are called Arancini. Paired with a nice glass of Pinot from Santa Lucia Highlands, it was fantastic!

Dave a server from Honolulu is great!

alex sim-wise...

Never heard of her until I saw her in the Gravevine section of the June 2009 Playboy.

I'm not a shill for Playboy, but I've been a loyal subscriber for too many years to count, therefore I recommend buying the issue just to see a shot of Alex Sim-Wise. It's just topless, but the pose is priceless. It's probably somewhere out there posted on the internet, but I'm not going to put too much effort into looking for it.

She's from Britain and writes for Front magazine- whatever that is? If you're interested google her...

I'm just about convinced that my next foray out of the country will be to London...

twitter...

I don't tweet too much. One reason, it's too fucking trendy. I do like logging on to twitter every now and then to see what's going on?

This is what I learned today from checking out twitter. I'm a big iPhone guy and the new iPhone is rumored to be 1.5X faster than the the 3G model- which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a very significant speed increase.

Also, the new iPhone will probably be introduced @ Apple World Wide Developers Conference 2009 which opens @ Moscone West on June 8th and runs until the 12th. I would love to be there. The conference is sold out. I'll try to procure a pass.

The iPhone should hit the streets in early July. With the faster processor, the battery life may not improve, but let's hope for the better.

Again, as I've heard in the past, iPhone will come in a 16G and 32G model with video capabilities.

lebron...

What more can I say? It was one of the biggest shots I've ever seen in my life!!!

After Hedo hit a bucket with one second left in the game, I thought it was over for the Cavs in the playoffs. Overcoming a two game deficit with the next two games in Orlando would be next to impossible to overcome.

Great players like James come through in clutch situations. Cleveland still has its work cut out for them in the series. They need to steal @ least one game in Florida...

dan galvin...

A very knowledgable man who worked for Pahlmeyer/Jayson @ the Press Club.

Dan is a pleasure to be around and I'm going to miss him @ the Press Club.

BTW, Pahlmeyer pulled out of the Press Club @ 2pm today.

NY is certain Dan Galvin will be okay...

bathroom report...

Neiman Marcus. Union Square.

The facilities on the fifth floor are nice. The bathroom in the Rotunda is old. I try to avoid it.

The men's room in the basement is also good.

Neiman Marcus Ala Moana has superior water closets.

r &g lounge...

On Kearny and Commercial in the City.

Currently enjoying a cup of hot and sour soup from the joint. Usually, when I frequent R&G, I get there too late for the soup.

The only thing I order @ R&G is the lemon chicken. It's the best!

Yesterday, I shared a large circular table with four other diners.

new dish @ the rotunda...

Under the sandwich category.

Croque Madame- black forest ham, gruyere, fried egg, mixed greens. 17

A play on the monte cristo sandwich.

Looks like a breakfast sandwich on steroids.

Tasty, but too rich in flavor for my blood.

Glad I tried it.

The Classic Chicken- avocado, toasted almonds, seasonal fruit(honey dew, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes, strawberry, tomato is usually included on the plate). 17
My favorite...

barry zito...

He pitched one hell of a game in San Diego last night allowing only two runs in eight innings. The problem is he didn't get any run support.

I couldn't believe he was hitting 89mph on the radar gun? Was the gun @ Petco accurate. BTW, Petco Park is my favorite stadium I've been to. Wasn't Barry Zito throwing about 84 last season?

Anyway, without any pop in the lineup, the G-Men are frustrating to watch when a starting pitcher pitches a great game and loses...

Aaron Rowand was a horrible signing for the Giants. The guy isn't even that great in centerfield.

Zito did pitch a complete game, but for eight innings, since the Padres didn't need their at bats in the ninth. And apparently Zito hasn't pitched a complete game since 2003.

dancing with the stars season 8 winner...

From the beginning, I was pulling for Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson to win. And quite frankly, I was surprised she won over the basically unknown "Sex and the City" actor Gilles Marini- because the more I saw him dance, the more I thought he deserved to win. The fucking guy is a hell of a dancer.

Shawn Johnson was technically superior like Kristi Yamaguchi was two seasons ago, yet her thick gymnast body didn't always translate well on the dance floor.

I'm happy she won, but in my heart, Gilles Marini should have won...

nba draft lottery...

My first thought was having Chris Webber represent the Sacramento Kings who had the worst record in the league was a big mistake and I was correct.

The Kings went from having the highest percentage of obtaining the top draft pick to picking number four.

BTW, the Clippers got the top pick.

I forgot he dated Tyra Banks. Several years ago, I saw them @ the Venetian while losing a ton of money @ the blackjack tables...

tim lincecum bobblehead day @ at&t park...

First of all, the Giants needed that win against the Mets to avoid getting swept. Matt Cain was extremely shaky for the first two innings and settled in to get a victory. Currently, Cain is the best pitcher on the staff. Lincecum is definitely the ace of the staff, but Matt Cain is pitching a little better right now...

Lincecum's popularity with the fans is unbelievable! I had three tickets and ended up with only one bobblehead which I gave to a buddy of mine. NY isn't a bobblehead guy. Each one I've gotten @ a game, I've given away throughout the years.

Again, I will say that the Giants would be lucky to win 80 games.

tony kornheiser leaving monday night football...

That made my day! I wouldn't watch MNF because that guy is such an idiot! He was worse than Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football. Maybe not. Miller was also simply horrible!

As I've written in a previous blog, the guy has a face for radio without the radio voice.

I'm so happy that moron Kornheiser is off MNF- now I can watch it again.

Thank you...

pittsburg without the h in the bay area...

In all the years I've lived in the Bay Area, not once have I set foot in Pittsburg, CA. Why?

The only reason I'm taking the BART from the City to Pittsburg/Bay Point is to pick up a couple a free Giants tickets.

Will it be worth the 51 minute one-way BART ride? We'll see...

one of my favorite bathrooms in the city...

Let's face it- knowing where clean bathrooms are is very, very important...

The Le Meridien has a very nice bathroom located on the second floor.

I've used the facilities @ this space since the early eighties when it was called the Park Hyatt.

Thank you Park Hyatt and merci to Le Meridien!!

top dog on center street in berkeley...

I like this location for the seating. And it's proximity to the Berkeley BART station.

I usually take the easy road and just order a top dog which is their signature frankfurter.

Last night, I opted for a hot link and it was tasty and spicy.

I have to reiterate that one must make sure most of the liquid is extracted from the sauerkraut before you put it on your dog or you'll have a soggy hot dog.

I enjoy the hot mustard @ Top Dog, but since I had a hot link, the hot mustard would have been too overpowering. Speaking of hot mustard- Philippe's in LA has some fucking hot mustard that will make your eyes water...

I'm an RC Cola fan and I love that fact that Top Dog has RC.

It was such a beautiful night in Berkeley and the front window was open, which made it such a pleasant experience to enjoy a hot link with a RC Cola on a sultry night in the East Bay...

I know, I've used the same map on another post about Top Dog, but what the fuck...

andre ward...

Andre basically pitched a shutout over a tough and well conditioned Edison Miranda @ the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

I was sitting too far away to realize that Ward got head butted in the first round and was bleeding over his left eye throughout the fight.

Andre Ward is a skilled fighter who resorted to boxing southpaw @ times to keep Miranda off balance.

I don't like how Ward keeps his left hand down in his orthodox stance. And his punching power is suspect. This concerns me, because Ward hit Miranda with power punches on several occasions without coming close to a knockdown.

Ward definitely deserves a title shot.

The advertised $25 seats were gone by the time I got to the arena and I ended paying $52.50.

The second level wasn't used for the bout, but a pro-Ward crowd of nearly 8K showed up to watch their native son win unanimously over the trash talking Miranda.

The only person I recognized in the lobby was ex-Dukie and current Chicago Bull DeMarcus Nelson. Nelson also played for the Warriors early last season. DeMarcus is a Bay Area native.

random thoughts...

Sometimes I read my previous posts and I can't believe it was me...

My writing prowess is inconsistent...

I had to reinstall the counter of my blog, because embedded was an ad in which I didn't want. I had over 2000 hits in a little over a week- which surprised the hell out of me...

Anyway, I'm off to Oaktown to see Andre Ward fight...

wayman tisdale revisited...

The more I read about the life and death of Wayman Tisdale the sadder I get. I knew he was sick, but it didn't compute that Wayman had his leg amputated last August.

And I also forgot that Tisdale was one of the best college basketball players of all-time. He was that great @ Oklahoma. A three-time first-team All-American player.

Wayman Tisdale was an inspiration for cancer survivors. The man from OK who really wasn't OK in health visited other cancer patients with words of encouragement and support while going to the hospital for chemotherapy. His concern for people who can't afford adequate treatment led Tisdale to start a foundation. I hope the Wayman Tisdale Foundation lives on and helps as many people in need as possible...

And the guy just had a great smile...

I also want to thank Jenni Carlson from News OK for her article about Tisdale.

bill walton...

I was thinking this the other day and a blog on Yahoo Sports reconfirmed my thoughts about Bill Walton being missing in action.

He was one of the greatest centers of all time, especially during his college days @ UCLA and I was privileged to be able to see him play live against UDub @ Hec Edmundson in the early seventies.

Walton's commentary drove me crazy @ times, but I truly miss having him on NBA telecasts.

He's been gone for over a season and I'm curious what his status is? I know he's had issues with his back...

ayola 2...

Open until 5pm Monday - Friday. Open until 3pm on Saturday.

wayman tisdale...

I was saddened to read that he passed away @ 44 from cancer.

Sure he was a great basketball player, but Tisdale was really more known to the jazz loving public as an accomplished musician. Wayman was a talented bass guitarist. I have one of his cds. I love his rendition of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Can't Hide Love."

I talked to him about twenty years ago @ the Oakland Coliseum and he commented on my North Beach Leather basketball jacket. Tisdale seemed like a very nice guy.

I'll make sure to listen to his music on my iTouch in honor of a talented man who not only prospered in the NBA, but also in the music world.

May he rest in peace...

original joe's in san jose...

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. Located on S 1st St and E San Carlos in downtown SJ.

The joint is open until 1am everyday except Sunday when OJ's closes @ midnight.

For years, you couldn't eat @ the bar, now you can, which is a good thing when one wants to catch a game. The bartenders love their sports...

The other night, it was late, therefore no games were on- so I ate @ the counter. I enjoy watching the chefs cook...

Although, I love their spaghetti and ravioli with meatballs, I usually opt for their hamburger charbroiled with steak fries and a side of tomato and lettuce which is gratis, but you need to ask for it. The burger is 12 ounces and very, very good!

I asked for my hamburger medium rare and it came out nearly well done, but it was still juicy, therefore I didn't send it back. More often than not, I find burgers are overcooked @ restaurants.

Another thing, I always put A-1 on my hamburger. It enhances the flavor of the meat. I also put A-1 on my steak fries.

Can't wait to go back...

albert pujols...

In 2009, ARod and Manny have been caught using performance enhancing drugs.

I believe Pujols is on HGH. I don't care if he's passed drug tests... There isn't testing for HGH.

Actually, there is no doubt in my mind Pujols is taking some kind of PED.

lip synching...

I don't watch the fucking show, but I heard that Paula Abdul lip synched her song on American Idol. Are you kidding me? Isn't that show about live performances?

Many, many years ago I went to a Madonna show and to my dismay, she lip synched a good portion of the concert. What a waste of fucking money. Then again, I ended up going free because I scalped some tickets...

Still, why pay top dollar for performers who lip synch. It's a travesty...

Other culprits- Britney Spears and Ashley Simpson to name two.

What gets me is how can someone get away with being a money making singer and they can't sing a lick?

It boggles my mine...

miss california...

The moron who made a fool of herself @ the Miss USA pageant has skeletons in her closet-nude photos.

My only question- were they pre-boob job?

I guess they were...

ayola 2...

On Kearny between Pine and Bush.

I love their gyros and Ayola's fries are fantastic and I'm not big on fries. They're peppered and crispy.

Anyway, I usually opt for their lunch special which includes a gyro, fries, and a canned soda- I believe you can also get a bottled water.

Today, one of the many old chinese ladies who collect cans literally waited five minutes for me to finish my soda. It was uncomfortable to say the least.

Next time I frequent the joint I'll probably take it to go...

millionaire matchmaker...

Why in the fuck am I watching this show?

Again, it goes back to it's so bad, that it's good...

The brunette matchmaker with a big rack is out of her fucking mind.

I give her credit, because she's probably making a ton of money.

In the show I'm currently watching she calls a young lady an amerasian- what the fuck? Are we back in the sixties where kids born to GIs and vietnamese ladies were called amerasian. The bitch doesn't have a fucking clue? I was going to write Bravo to complain, but it would be a waste of time.

Using the hawaiian word "hapa" is more appropriate. Biracial is also probably appropriate, but in my view it seems to be used more in a black/white mix.

oakland a's...

Went to my first A's game of the season last night. To my dismay, Dallas Braden was pitching. I swear almost every game I attended last season Braden was pitching. I wanted to see one of Oakland's 21 year old rookie starters- Anderson or Cahill.

Basically the only reason I attended the game against the Angels last night was the fact it was blanket giveaway night. And my buddy was able to get free tickets.

It's only the beginning of the second month of the season, but I don't see how the A's can compete in their division. Their starting pitching is suspect and like nearly every season Eric Chavez is injured. I don't foresee Matt Holliday in an Oakland uniform for the whole season.

It was nice to see Jason Giambi back in an A's uniform- we'll see if he comes around and has a decent season.

Nomar Garciaparra is an injury waiting to happen. The guy like Chavez is always on the DL.

I've said this many times- I just don't see the so-called genius of Billy Beane?

back in the city...

Two weeks in Honolulu is long time...

I'm happy to be back in San Francisco- very happy...

I went to the beach a total of three times in my fourteen days in HNL. In retrospect, I should have went a few more times- @ least...

nico's pier 38...

Never been to Pier 38 in all the years I been to Honolulu. Nico's Pier 38 is obviously located on Pier 38.

My first impression of Nico's is the unfriendly counter people.

And the food takes some time to prepare.

However, the food is excellent. I had the fish and eggs breakfast- which is the catch of the day with two eggs and rice. $6.95.

I believe the fish was ahi? My poached eggs were a bit overcooked. I like my poached eggs runny. The tartar sauce that came with the fish is good and I'm a tartar sauce guy coming from Seattle.

Interestingly, my breakfast came with melon.

The portion was a bit small, but I eat too much anyway...

curry house coco ichibanya...

Love their curry!!

In the past, I just went for the chicken katsu curry. The past two times I opted for calamari and clams.

Definitely my favorite curry joint.

I go to the stores @ Ala Moana Center and McCully Shopping Center.
