GUISE- an external form, appearance, or manner of presentation, typically concealing the true nature of something. Recently, I wrote an e-mail to someone (who will remain nameless and I won't even give a hint what her name is) under the GUISE of an apology, but the true nature of the missive was to determine whether there was any interest on her part and if a mutual acquaintance of ours was making any disparaging comments about yours truly. BTW, the person in the photo has the same name as my e-mail friend... I lied, I had to give a little hint, but if anyone figures out her name, I will be very impressed...
